Position Summary 

Cleaver-Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Sales Engineer serves as the technical and commercial bridge between customers and the company. This role combines deep technical knowledge with strong sales and communication skills to identify customer needs, propose effective solutions, and drive profitable business growth. The Sales Engineer works closely with sales, engineering, estimating, and project management teams to ensure accurate proposals, successful project delivery, and high customer satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities 

Product Knowledge  

  • Develop and maintain an expert-level understanding of company products, services, systems, and applications to support outside sales activities. 
  • Act as a technical sales support resource for Account Executives. 

Technical Sales Support 

    • Working with outside sales, engage with customers to understand their technical and operational requirements; propose products, systems, or services that fulfill their needs and deliver excess value. 
    • Develop and present customized technical solutions, including scope, specifications, and cost estimates. 
    • Develop customer specific spare parts lists, preventive maintenance programs, etc. in support of new equipment sales. 

    Quoting & Proposals 

    • Prepare, review, and deliver detailed proposals, quotations, and submittals in coordination with estimating and engineering teams. 
    • Working with customer service, ensure all technical documentation required to complete a job is delivered accurately and timely. 
    • Coordinate scope changes, pricing updates, etc. as opportunities mature and customer needs change. 

    Customer Relationship Management  

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, contractors, engineers, and end users focusing on demonstrating to customers the technical superiority and value of CBSS products and services. 
    • Provide technical assistance and after sales support to customers and internal teams during installation, commissioning, and service phases as needed. 

    Market Development and Forecasting  

    • Utilize sales leads to identify new market opportunities, emerging technologies, and industry trends to drive business growth. 
    • Engage in cold calling activities via targeted customer lists; compile and analyze marketing data to better develop targeted sales plans. 
    • Join and participate in industry groups to further visibility of Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service as well as report on market trends, new products, etc. 
    • Support sales forecasting, pipeline management, and strategic account planning with input from technical and commercial perspectives. 

    Technical Presentations: Conduct product demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, and technical presentations to customers and partners. 

    Collaboration: Work with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are understood and met during project execution. 

    Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field preferred) or equivalent technical experience. 
    • 1–3 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or project engineering within an industrial or technical product environment. 
    • Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems, controls, or process equipment. 
    • Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bid documents. 
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Proficiency with CRM tools: SalesForce. Estimating Software and AutoCAD a plus. 
    • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities. 

    Preferred Attributes 

    • Experience in industrial equipment, HVAC, boiler systems, controls, or process systems sales. 
    • Demonstrated success managing complex sales cycles and technical proposals. 
    • Ability to travel as required: 
    • Day Travel: up to 40% 
    • Overnight Travel: up to 20% 

     

     

    Physical Skill and Effort 

    Work requires computer proficiency, moderate typing speed and a high data input accuracy level. Work involves fairly light and simple types of physical exertion.

    Working Conditions and Hazards

    Normal office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions or materials
