Staff Field Engineer presso SCS Engineers

What we are looking for:

SCS Engineers is looking for a Staff Engineer to be in the field on a site in Sylmar, CA.  You will provide engineering support to the site (landfill) and also be exposed to project management.  

How you can make an impact:

You will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and do civil and environmental project work including:

• Landfill and landfill gas system permitting and design, including construction plans, specifications and construction documents.
• Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste assignment areas and related fields.
• Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations.
• Makes decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plans and coordinate work, and represent us at meetings and conferences.
• Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, sample collection,  drilling oversight, etc.
• Office-based tasks including CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, permit applications, etc.
• Business development including proposal preparation, meeting with clients, and attending industry related conferences/trade shows.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
• Complete quality control reviews on all work product (reports, design plans, design calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission.
• Prepare calculations for reports and in support of design documents as requested.
• Review laboratory data and prepare compliance monitoring reports.
• Travel (day trips or overnight, 20% of travel expected)
• Ensure adherence to client and company policies in all activities including health and safety, security, and ethics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, or related major required. Master's Degree preferred. 
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant civil or environmental experience required. Consulting experience, business specific to the solid waste industry, including landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting, etc. preferred. 
• AutoCAD experience is required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• HAZWOPER and GPS survey staking experience is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay Range:USD $75,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.Additional Information:Please note that our pay ranges are determined by several factors, including relevant experience, internal pay equity, and location.
