The Programs and Operations Assistant supports the year-round operations of Camp Easterseals with a primary focus on facilities upkeep and safety. This part-time role also assists with program logistics and camper activities during camp season and off-season respite weekends and rental events. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, is detail-oriented, and is flexible to support both facilities and program needs.
Job Duties:
- Assist with routine upkeep of camp buildings, trails, vehicles, and equipment.
- Support with maintenance projects and grounds keeping including but not limited to: lawn work, moving equipment, basic repairs, driving lawn equipment, tractors, and utilizing tools such as chainsaws, saws, and power tools.
- Assist in running program areas during camp season and off-season respite weekends and rental groups.
- Help set up program spaces and adapt activities as directed.
- Provide logistical support for rentals, respite weekends, and special events.
- Monitor camp for safety concerns and report issues promptly.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for campers, staff, and visitors.
- Follows all ESPH procedures as appropriate to position.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or equivalent required; some college or related experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with building/equipment maintenance and/or grounds keeping.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends for respite or rental programs.
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving record preferred.
Equipment Used:
Equipment for building and lawn maintenance to include tractors, lawnmowers, weed-eaters, ladders and other tools.
Essential physical requirements:
- Must possess the necessary abilities to perform tasks such as develop written communication as well as reviewing work to determine accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, and being able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to perform many physical tasks including lifting at least 50lbs, driving a lawn mower, using a chainsaw, etc.
Environment:
- Exposure to the outdoor elements including fluctuating temperatures, sun, rain, etc.
- Exposure to various potential hazards while fulfilling job duties – i.e., working with animal stock, insect removal, creek flooding, tree limb removal, etc.
- Exposure to various elements related to fulfillment of job duties – i.e., fuel for vehicles and maintenance equipment, pest and weed control chemicals.
