Nutrition Services Supervisor  

GENERAL OBJECTIVE: The Nutrition Services Supervisor aims to promote wellness through evidence-based nutrition practices, efficient food service operations, staff development, and adherence to USDA/CACFP guidelines. 


REPORTS TO: Nutrition Services Supervisor 


SUPERVISES: Cooks/Cook Aides/Delivery Driver  


CLASSIFICATION: ? Exempt, non-represented 


PAY GRADE: EE 


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 


Nutrition Services Supervisor 


Supervise Central Kitchen Staff 


Performs monthly supportive supervisions to cooks assigned  


Issues 90-day performance reviews as well as yearly performance reviews  


Orders food, supplies, and supplemental items for all non-vended centers in the program. 


Receives orders from vendors, ensuring proper items have been delivered. 


Prepares and sorts food for delivery to centers. 


Act as primary head cook in preparing high quality, high quantity nutritional food, following standardized recipes as per CACFP requirements  


Delivers or manages deliveries to centers in a timely manner  


Supervises agency personnel in nutrition operation tasks as assigned  


Ensures compliance with CACFP and kitchen sanitation guidelines across all supervised sites. 


Conducts training for agency staff in nutrition related operations as needed, provides coverage as a cook when necessary to support site operations. 


Oversees “Kitchen Monitoring” inspections at all supervised sites. 


Completes all priority tasks accurately and punctually, as outlined in the Monthly Task List. 


Reviews monthly nutrition paperwork for supervised sites and reports findings to the Nutrition Services Manager. 


Communicates operational needs, issues, or concerns of the main kitchen to the Nutrition Services Manager. 


Participates in required training to ensure compliance with CACFP/USDA regulations. 


Offers guidance to staff on budgeting, health and sanitation, vendor relations, and CACFP rules and regulations. 


Attends meetings, staffing sessions, training, and professional development activities as directed. 


Inspects facilities, food, and food preparation areas to uphold quality standards and sanitation regulations at the Central Kitchen. 


Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy environment, utilizing equipment and supplies responsibly. 


Works with the operations team to fulfill all licensing requirements and tasks 


Performs routine maintenance of the kitchen and equipment, including daily and weekly cleaning. 


Adheres to and enforces agency attendance policy 


Collaborates with program staff to provide catering services for events such as meetings, family engagement activities, and staff events. 


Completes routine maintenance of kitchen and equipment, including daily/weekly cleaning. 


Other Job Responsibilities 


Order and pick up miscellaneous supplies as needed. 


Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 


Education and Experience 


High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent required 


Two year of work experience in kitchen, preferably in an educational or institutional setting 


 


Skills and Abilities 


Good computer skills, including basic competency in MS Office Suite 


Ability to positively interact with outside vendors and community members 


Ability to positively and respectfully interact with families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds 


Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle available for use on the job (or have alternative transportation) 


Ability to possess and maintain compliance with State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry 


Ability to possess and maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification 


Ability to possess and maintain a valid Oregon Food Handler’s Card 


Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program Regulations, Child Care Licensing Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards; in addition to best practices related to education and early childhood 


Detailed record keeping and excellent communication, computer/database & keyboarding skills; data entry. 


Ability to speak before groups of individuals 


 


Working Conditions 


Frequent driving to program centers  


Moderate walking, bending, and kneeling 


Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
