Strategic Growth Manager
About Us
DJ&A is a multi-disciplinary A/E firm that has grown over 15% annually and expanded from two to six regional offices in six years. Our Business Development (BD) Group leads company-wide BD efforts, historically focused on federal land management agencies (up to 70% of our work), and more recently focused on local, state, and private markets.
Job Summary
DJ&A is seeking a Strategic Growth Manager to support its Regional Office Managers (ROMs), who are responsible for BD in their regions. This support will be related to two key areas:
- Develop & Implement Regional BD Plans – ROMs lead regional business development efforts by guiding their teams in pursuing local opportunities and developing client relationships. There is an opportunity to bring greater strategy, consistency, and structure to how regions plan and execute business development initiatives.
- Lead the Client Engagement Program – This program provides a structured way for Client Engagement Managers (CEMs) to nurture client relationships through all phases of business development, including pre-positioning, winning, and delivering projects. This program has recently been launched in a limited form and now requires further development, training, and implementation to achieve its intended impact across the company.
Success in this role requires strategic thinking, initiative, collaboration, and the ability to turn plans into action. Your work will help drive sustainable growth by empowering ROMs and CEMs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Implement Regional BD Plans
- Work with BD staff and others to assess current BD practices at DJ&A and make recommendations for refinement.
- Develop and/or refine regional BD plans.
- Support ROMs in the execution and annual updating of regional BD plans.
- Support ROMs in tracking and reporting on their BD plan progress.
- Participate in identifying and evaluating new client prospects and strategic growth opportunities.
- Conduct market and client research to uncover trends, needs, and opportunities for competitive positioning.
- Lead Client Engagement Program
- Assess status of current client engagement program.
- Work with ROMs and CEMs to support the development of client-specific account plans that are consistent with the goals of regional BD plans.
- Conduct trainings for ROMs and CEMs on best practices for business development through pre-positioning and nurturing relationships.
- Support ROMs and CEMs in logging and reporting on client growth and engagement activities and outcomes using DJ&A’s CRM system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in business development, client engagement, and/or strategic growth roles, preferably within the A/E/C industry.
- Experience developing and implementing business development plans.
- Proven success in building and maintaining client relationships.
- Strong skills in strategy development, execution, and opportunity identification.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to collaborate across regions, disciplines, and leadership levels.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Salary and Benefits
- Full-time weekdays, 40 hours per week, 9/80 work schedule, occasional overtime required to meet deadlines
- Base pay of $36 - $50 per hour, depending on experience and location
- Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and profit sharing, long-term disability, performance bonuses, paid time off, and eleven paid holidays
