SUMMARY
The Network Operation Center Technician (NOCTECH) serves as the first line of defense
against device/network outages and works to ensure that any experienced outage is handled
as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The internship at the (NOC) is for the intern to gain technical skills in Computer Networking and
basic cybersecurity protocol for local government Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)
infrastructure such as cameras, traffic signals, vehicle detection devices and much more.
By the end of the internship, the intern will have a defined skills for basic Network trouble
shooting and triage and a proficient understanding of day-to-day operations of a typical network
technician that can be applied to other companies or higher education learning
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor the health of ITS devices deployed across the company/customer network.
• Monitor the status of ITS systems, networks, and devices such as CCTVs, Dynamic Message Signs, gate control systems, Highway Advisory Radio, and more.
• Conduct equipment failure investigation using computer-assisted techniques.
• Other duties as assigned.
At the end of the internship, it is expected that the intern can:
• Demonstrate ability to read and follow Network checklist guidelines
• Demonstrate ability to understand basic network lingo and technical terms.
• Demonstrate basic skills to monitor and troubleshoot hardware and devices.
• Demonstrating basic ability to diagnose networking issues.
• Provide intern skills assist in solving problems using critical and creative thinking.
• Gain exposure to construction, fiber and networking diagrams
• Get hands-on experience working for the company, thereby providing real-world
examples to use in the future career path(s).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE:
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer skills (MS Office Suite and Windows Operating Systems)
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Ability to read and comprehend checklist documents
• Ability to draft formal emails and or letters
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Ability to apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and
proportions.
• The ability to solve real-world problems and handle a variety of specific situations
where there are only limited standard rules.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.

balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The intern must frequently lift and/or move up to
10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 25 pounds.
