ASME is seeking a Senior Director of Philanthropy to lead a high-performing fundraising team and advance the organization’s philanthropic mission. Reporting to the Managing Director, Programs and Philanthropy, who also serves as the Executive Director for the ASME Foundation, the Senior Director will oversee all aspects of ASME’s philanthropic revenue generation across individual giving (annual campaigns and major gifts), corporate giving, institutional giving (grants), and fundraising events. This position is responsible for raising $5-7 million annually through integrated, donor-centered strategies that support ASME’s global mission and philanthropic programs.
The Senior Director will supervise a team of 5–7 fundraising professionals, provide strategic oversight of all donor engagement, and help build a robust culture of philanthropy across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive philanthropic strategy that integrates individual giving, corporate partnerships, institutional funding, and events to meet minimum $5 million annual revenue goals.
- Ensure fundraising plans align with ASME’s Foundation mission, impact areas, and broader organizational priorities.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and contribute to long-term campaign development, partner engagement, and cross-functional integration.
Team Management
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of 5–7 fundraising professionals representing functional expertise across major gifts, annual campaigns, corporate sponsorship, grants, and events.
- Establish performance metrics and build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Donor, Corporate, & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and manage a personal portfolio of major donors and corporate funders, ensuring long-term relationships and increased investment.
- Guide the cultivation and stewardship of key corporate partners, including sponsorships, matching gifts, in-kind support, and strategic alignment with ASME programming.
- Support board members and senior leaders in engaging with donors and corporate stakeholders.
Grants & Institutional Funding
- Oversee grant development and reporting processes for foundation and government support.
- Partner with program and finance teams to ensure grant alignment with organizational needs and reporting requirements.
Philanthropic & Cultivation Events
- Provide strategic oversight for ASME’s philanthropic and donor cultivation events, ensuring alignment with overall fundraising goals.
- Leverage events to engage individual, corporate, and institutional supporters in ASME’s mission and programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, including leadership of complex, multi-channel fundraising portfolios.
- Demonstrated success in raising $5M+ annually, including from individual major donors, corporations, foundations, and events.
- Experience cultivating and securing seven-figure asks.
- Experience developing and managing corporate partnerships, including sponsorships, cause marketing, or strategic engagement.
- Experience working in large nonprofit organizations, membership associations, or federated systems strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with donor databases and CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred).
- Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and team management skills.
Prior experience with:
- Leading integrated philanthropic portfolios across all key revenue streams: individual, corporate, institutional, and events.
- Developing multi-year corporate giving strategies that align with organizational mission and programmatic priorities.
- Managing cross-functional fundraising teams and campaign operations at scale.
- Partnering with executive and volunteer leadership to enhance donor engagement.
Proficient in:
- Strategic fundraising planning and forecasting
- Corporate partnership cultivation and stewardship
- Salesforce or equivalent CRM system
- Team performance and development coaching
- Complex grant proposal development and compliance
- Event-based revenue planning and execution
This role offers the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, with occasional business travel as needed.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $215,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year.
