Overview: The Security Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining MCU’s network and enterprise security infrastructure.  The engineer collaborates with IT and InfoSec teams to monitor network activities, identify and remediate vulnerabilities, and implement proactive security measures to safeguard sensitive financial and member data.   

 

Responsibilities:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Configure and mange secure network architectures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, VPN’s, Intrusion Prevention and Detection Systems, and other security measures.  
  • Manage network access controls, segmentation, and security policies.
  • Monitor network traffic and respond to alerts
  • In collaboration with Information Security team, facilitate security assessments and penetration testing to identity and address vulnerabilities
  • Investigate security incidents and coordinate with incident response team to resolve issues.  
  • Manage the vulnerability and patch management programs
  • Work closely with Application Support, Dev Ops and Organization Agility teams to ensure security is integrated into the development and deployment processes.  
  • Regularly update network security systems and software to protect against emerging threats.  
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network security configurations, incidents, and risk assessments.  
  • Provide periodic reporting to management, outlining the status of enterprise and network defenses and ongoing security projects.  
  • Manage security access list policies 
  • Work closely with Managed Security Providers, Vendors, and consultants. 
  • Perform other related duties as requested and special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in network security engineering or similar role, preferably in financial services.  
  • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CEH preferred.
  • Team player, positive attitude and good communication/documentation skills are essential to this role.
  • Comfortable working under high-pressure demanding environment and support of critical issues.
  • Familiar with hardware and software devices from Fortinet, Cisco, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Voice Gateways, Unified Communication Solution, SIP, PBX systems, SNMP & SIEM products.
  • Ability to adhere to industry standard best practices related to network devices, network security architecture.
  • Highly Ethical and motivated individual.

Ability to perform in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
