The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving both internal and external sales growth within Experience Senior Living’s Colorado market. This role will begin with a focused assignment—supporting the sales and occupancy growth of a designated community (approximately 60% internal sales and 40% external business development). Once that community is stabilized, the position will expand to encompass external business development and referral relationship management across all Colorado communities.

  • Lead or support sales presentations, tours, and prospect follow-up to drive move-ins.
  • Maintain accurate data and follow-up activity within the CRM system (Sherpa or equivalent).
  • Collaborate with community leadership to ensure an exceptional prospect experience, model staging, and adherence to ESL brand standards.
  • Conduct daily sales strategy sessions and participate in creative outreach planning.
  • Provide on-site coaching and support to sales teams during periods of turnover, leave, or transition.
  • Support event planning and community visibility to increase qualified leads.

External Business Development (Long-Term Focus)

  • Develop and manage relationships with professional referral sources including healthcare providers, discharge planners, social workers, and community partners.
  • Identify and cultivate referral pipelines that generate qualified leads for all Colorado communities.
  • Create and execute business development plans with measurable referral and conversion goals.
  • Track and report referral activity, conversion ratios, and market intelligence to the SVP of Sales & Marketing.
  • Maintain an active presence in the local market through outreach, presentations, and strategic partnerships.
  • Represent ESL at regional networking events, health fairs, and industry associations.
  • Collaborate with divisional and senior leadership to assess market trends, competitive positioning, and partnership opportunities.
  • Support the launch of new communities and assist with sales team training during pre-opening and early occupancy phases.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a sales culture champion—modeling ESL’s relationship-centered selling approach.
  • Partner closely with the SVP of Sales and Marketing, the Divisional Director of Sales & Marketing, Sales Specialists, and community leaders to ensure alignment on messaging, process, and goals.
  • Provide recommendations for pricing, marketing, and promotional strategies based on local insights.
  • Uphold ESL’s brand standards, values, and customer experience philosophy in all interactions.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
