JOB SUMMARY:
The A/R Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the collection and reconciliation of accounts receivable related to newly acquired businesses or portfolios. This position will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth financial transition during acquisitions by managing the collection of outstanding balances, resolving discrepancies, and supporting accurate reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Manage the collections process for accounts receivable acquired through mergers, acquisitions, or portfolio transfers.
- Review and assess aging reports to identify high-priority accounts and develop effective collection strategies.
- Contact customers via phone, email, or other communication channels to follow up on outstanding invoices.
- Collaborate with acquisition, legal, and finance teams to validate ownership, payment terms, and account details.
- Resolve discrepancies related to billing, payment application, or account setup during the acquisition transition.
- Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, payment commitments, and account status updates within the ERP/CRM and internal business systems.
- Escalate unresolved or delinquent accounts to management or legal when necessary.
- Achieve set benchmarks or productivity goals, as assigned, and communicated.
- Prepare for and attend all scheduled acquisition meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.
Education, Training, Certifications:
- Associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or similar; preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:
- 2 years relevant work experience in the construction industry or accounts receivables
- 2 years collections experience
- 2 years customer service experience
- 2 years of professional computer skills
- 2 years ERP/CRM systems; preferred
Communication Skills:
- Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to express empathy.
- Systems and Software Skills:
- Ability to operate a computer, use Microsoft Office required.
Other Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
Occasional travel required up to 20%. Must be able to comply with Summit’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreements.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to drive, bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, reach above and below shoulders, stoop, and twist.
Work Environment:
Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, sit or stand for extended periods of time, and work alone and with others. The employee will be occasionally required to travel.
