JOB SUMMARY
The Design Engineer 2 is responsible for supporting the design, development, and refinement of products and systems through innovative engineering solutions. This entry-level role involves creating detailed models and drawings using CAD software, assisting in prototype development and testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturability standards within established budget and schedule constraints.
This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Development
Create, modify, and improve product designs and manufacturing processes using engineering principles and CAD/CAE software.
Support the development of new products and the enhancement of existing designs.
Prototyping and Testing
Assist in building and testing prototypes to evaluate performance, usability, and safety.
Collect and analyze test data to identify areas for improvement and recommend design modifications.
Research and Innovation
Research new materials, technologies, and processes to support ongoing product innovation.
Contribute ideas for improving product performance and cost-effectiveness.
Collaboration
Work closely with other engineers, manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to ensure design alignment with project goals and customer requirements.
Communicate effectively across disciplines to support project success.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.
Maintain accurate design records and documentation throughout the development process.
Analysis and Problem-Solving
Identify and troubleshoot design and performance issues through root-cause analysis.
Apply engineering principles to ensure all designs meet functional, safety, and quality standards.
Project Management Support
Assist with project scheduling, budget tracking, and progress reporting.
Help ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years experience working with RF products.
- Experience in technical customer facing roles is a strong plus.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles.
