12-month administrative position
Position Overview:
The Assistant Principal at Dallas High School is a dynamic educational leader who supports academic excellence, operational efficiency, and a positive school climate. While primarily assigned to Dallas High School, this position provides flexible administrative support across Dallas School District schools, including Dallas Middle School and others, as needed. In addition, the Assistant Principal assists in the supervision and evaluation of athletics and district facilities, ensuring compliance, safety, and alignment with the district's mission.
This role aligns with the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Act 13 Four Leadership Domains.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Strategic/Cultural Leadership
Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful school climate aligned with district values.
Promote a culture of high expectations for academic achievement and behavior.
Serve as a visible leader at school functions, athletics, extracurricular events, and community gatherings.
Support student development and well-being through implementation of positive behavior supports and student engagement programs.
II. Systems Leadership
Assist in development and enforcement of school-wide policies and procedures.
Provide administrative coverage for other buildings as directed by district leadership.
Maintain accurate student attendance, discipline, and safety records in accordance with district policy and state regulations.
Manage crisis situations, including emergency response, student discipline, and communication with stakeholders.
Collaborate with central administration on staffing, budgeting, and scheduling needs.
III. Leadership for Learning
Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to analyze student data and inform instructional practices.
Participate in teacher supervision and evaluation using the PDE Educator Effectiveness system.
Support curriculum implementation, assessment administration, and professional development.
Lead or assist in professional learning communities and instructional leadership teams.
Contribute to the development of school improvement plans and district goals.
IV. Professional and Community Leadership
Serve as a liaison between the school and community, promoting family and stakeholder engagement.
Maintain open communication with parents, staff, and students.
Demonstrate ethical leadership and commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
Represent the district in professional organizations and regional leadership initiatives as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist in oversight for district athletic programs in coordination with coaches, the Athletic Director, and PIAA regulations.
Assist with proper supervision, scheduling, and logistical support for athletic events.
Serve as liaison between administration, coaches, student-athletes, and parents.
Monitor school buildings and grounds for safety, maintenance, and operational efficiency.
Coordinate with custodial, maintenance, and operations staff to address building needs.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Superintendent.
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Principal Certification
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or related field
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
Leadership experience / K-12 administration experience preferred
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Understanding of PDE Educator Effectiveness system and Act 13 leadership domains
Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly across multiple schools
Working Conditions:
May require evening and weekend work for athletic and extracurricular supervision
Must be able to travel between district buildings as needed
Must be able to respond to emergencies and critical incidents promptly
