Job Description:

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality throughout the production lifecycle. From the first incoming component to the final product release, you will be responsible for establishing robust quality control systems, managing non-conformities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, production teams, R&D, and field service to ensure that every product meets our quality expectations and customer requirements.

Your mission? To implement and maintain a proactive quality assurance framework that supports smooth production, minimizes defects, and enhances customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Inspection & Supplier Quality

  • Define and implement incoming inspection procedures for critical components.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve incoming part reliability.
  • Support the purchasing organization with supplier audits (quality management, product evaluations).
  • Maintain inspection records and ensure full traceability of materials.

First Article Inspection (FAI) & Production Release

  • Lead First Article Inspections for new components and assemblies.
  • Validate production readiness through structured release processes.
  • Ensure that new products meet quality standards before full-scale production.

Complaint Handling & Root Cause Analysis

  • Manage customer and internal complaints using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Why,…).
  • Coordinate containment, corrective, and preventive actions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback to R&D and suppliers to prevent recurrence.

Process & Product Quality Monitoring

  • Define in-line quality checks and support operators with clear work instructions.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and drive actions to reduce scrap, rework, and defects.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Set up an internal audit system and train colleagues.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Quality

  • Identify improvement opportunities in quality processes and systems.
  • Lead or support Kaizen events and quality improvement projects.
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness and ownership on the shop floor.

Auditing

  • Facilitate Customer Audits and Assessments: Act as the primary point of contact during customer audits. Prepare documentation, coordinate on-site visits, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions following audit findings.
  • Supplier Audits and Quality Assurance: Support the purchasing organization in conducting supplier audits, including quality management system reviews and product-specific evaluations. Drive supplier development initiatives based on audit outcomes.
  • Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Document audit results, issue formal reports, and track corrective and preventive actions. Promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement through regular feedback and training.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date quality documentation, including control plans, inspection reports, and release protocols.
  • Implement processes to ensure compliance with ISO 9001.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems is a strong plus.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Solid understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, 8D).
  • Experience with FAI, incoming inspection, and production release processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP or QMS systems is a plus.

Mindset & Communication

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and solving problems.
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
