Job Summary
Windsor Salt is seeking a Red Seal/Journeyperson Industrial Millwright/Mechanic to join the maintenance team at the Bell Plaine production facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying mechanical equipment to support safe and efficient plant operations. The position plays a key role in ensuring product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and repair plant operational mechanical equipment including motors, pumps, conveyors, and production systems
Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform troubleshooting to restore operational efficiency
Fabricate, construct, and maintain mechanical equipment to accommodate process changes and/or improvements
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance (PM) on plant equipment
Conduct quality checks following repairs to ensure product standards are met
Adhere to corporate safety policies and procedures, including obtaining appropriate work permits (e.g., lockout, high work)
Support plant Mechanics and Electricians with daily operational tasks as needed
- Ensure all maintenance activities uphold product quality, safety, and legal standards
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Valid Red Seal/Journeyperson certification as an Industrial Millwright or Industrial Mechanic issued by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certificate Commission (SATCC) or an equivalent recognized provincial authority; completion of training through an accredited apprenticeship program is required
Minimum five (5) years of relevant industrial millwright/mechanic experience is required
- G.E.D. or high school diploma is required
Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques
Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, shaft alignment, belts, bearings, pulleys, and conveyors
Ability to independently troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures
Familiarity with legislated obligations, operating permits, and trade licenses
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team
Work Environment
Part of a small maintenance team of 5 employees
Daytime work schedule: 5x8 hour weekdays
Some overtime and call-ins required
Industrial plant setting with hands-on mechanical work
- Must be able to wear all PPE, including steel-toed boots and safety glasses
- Must be able to work at heights as required
- Essential job functions are performed in all types of weather conditions, some work may be performed inside plant buildings, but many are performed outside; this involves working in hot, humid, wet, dusty, cool, and cold environments
