POSITION TITLE: Rapid Re-housing Stabilization Coach

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time. (Some evenings and weekends will be required)
JOB SUMMARY
The Rapid Rehousing Stabilization Coach is a member of a dynamic team of coaching staff working with participants in our programs as they work to increase self-sufficiency. Utilizing the ECS Bridge to Prosperity model (adapted from EMPath’s Mobility Mentoring® Model), this role supports participants on their journey to reach the goal of taking over 100% of their rent payments within one year or exiting the program to other permanent housing through direct case management services and coaching practices. The Rapid Rehousing Stabilization Coach is also known by HUD contract as the Stabilization Specialist case manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with participants in developing a plan and taking steps toward building the income and resources necessary to pay 100% of their rent within one year.
- Work with clients to set goals and establish shorter-term action steps to help reach those larger goals. Be a partner, a champion, and a support to clients throughout their journey in the program.
- Partner with participants to assess needs and set goals utilizing The Bridge assessment in alignment with the Prosperity Model.
- Provide strengths-based, person and family-centered coaching focusing on achieving economic independence.
- Utilize an incentive model to encourage and promote goal achievement amongst participants.
- Provide ongoing customized, one-on-one coaching and guidance to program participants across five core areas: family stability, health and wellbeing, personal finances, education, and career development. At least monthly in-person coaching with participants and visit participants’ homes throughout the greater Philadelphia area when stipulated.
- Document participant progress through the administration of all relevant assessments
- Record participant information and progress data precisely, accurately, and on time with a rigorous dedication to confidentiality and data security protocols.
- Facilitate an interactive engagement process of assessment, planning, coaching and counseling, negotiation, communication and mediation, advocacy, referrals and linkages, education, support, resource management, and services coordination using culturally competent and trauma-informed care approaches.
Capacity Building
- Network with external peer colleagues at social service agencies to improve service delivery.
- Develop and maintain a primary knowledge base of resources, policies, and legislation impacting service delivery.
- Participate in staff meetings, conferences, trainings, activities, and events promoting information sharing, learning, positive team relationships, and effective service delivery.
- Support colleagues in maintaining continuity of services in the absence of assigned Rapid Re-housing staff.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social science-related field.
- Professional experience working in a social services or related setting serving vulnerable populations with complex and multiple service needs.
- Experience and effectiveness in working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Experience with providing in-home services to participants.
- Experience with coaching and capacity for effective coaching.
- Experience working in high-quality database systems such as the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), and/or other similar systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with and understanding the social determinants of health and their impact on individuals and communities experiencing poverty.
- Strong commitment to antiracism in the context of antipoverty programs and advocacy initiatives.
- Ability to articulate housing, health, wellness, parenting, coaching, etc., programs aligning with organizational vision, mission, values, and principles.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with leadership to strategize and resolve issues efficiently and promptly.
- Ability to effectively communicate to peers and team leads on envisioned goals.
- Excellent computer skills (including, but not limited to, the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe products, CRM/database, and project management software).
- Ability to work within program parameters to operationalize data in decision-making regarding program design, direction, and growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including providing meaningful feedback and motivating teams.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
The incumbent will be expected to perform the essential duties in the following work environment and conditions.
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
Travel Required
Based on job functions, this role will require travel between locations as part of the cross-functional operations team meetings and may need to travel to other ECS locations for training, agency-wide events, etc. Travel to various locations throughout Philadelphia is required for participant home visits as well as to resources for participants.
