About the Department
Characteristics of the Class: Under general supervision, the individual in this class will be responsible for reducing violence, developing diversion projects and alternative activities for gang members and at risk youth.
Position Duties
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
- Develops and implements programs for positive diversion of gang members and other at risk youth.
- Coordinates with other agencies and community based organizations, interventions designed to provide positive alternatives to gang involvement.
- Assist community youth by identifying appropriate support resources and makes referrals.
- Acts as a liaison with Housing Authority Police and other law enforcement agencies.
- Organizes and coordinates youth sports, recreational and educational programs and other youth oriented events.
- Prepares reports and correspondence.
- Assists in developing corporate sponsorship for sports programs and other recreational based events and outings.
- Organizes and coordinates youth leadership programs for at risk youth.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
