Position Summary

Panthera Europe is seeking a Grant Manager to supervise and administer our growing portfolio of grants and contracts sourced from European institutional and philanthropic donors and intended to finance wildlife conservation efforts worldwide. Reporting to the Head of European Institutional Funding, the Grant Manager will collaborate and coordinate with Panthera project managers across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality proposal and reporting deliverables in compliance with donor requirements and grant agreements. The Grant Manager will manage an expanding portfolio of European donors, managing donor engagement and relationships throughout the life of the awards. The ideal candidate for this position has a track record of administration of donor agreements, and is an able communicator who can maintain close working relationships with dozens of program staff from all over the world.

 A successful candidate will have a passion for wildlife, and a track record of supervising compliance with donor requirements at multiple levels. This position is home-based / remote work somewhere in the European Union (EU), preferably in Western Europe, and reports to the Head of European Institutional Funding based in the Geneva area. The successful candidate will be required to have, and maintain, legal work authorization to work in the country of employment.


Responsibilities

  •  Manage, oversee and supervise a diverse portfolio of funding agreements in a timely and quality way, notably by:
    • Liaising closely with, and supporting, Panthera’s project managers implementing field conservation projects in complying with grant agreement and contractual reporting obligations;
    • Ensure timely submission of grant progress reports to donors;
  • Research and monitor the European institutional and philanthropic funding market for biodiversity conservation funding opportunities.
  • Contribute to accurate projections information in Salesforce database.
  • Liaise with donors whenever necessary to resolve problems and clarify situations that may be unclear.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of Panthera’s programme implementation portfolio to be able to articulate Panthera’s experience in different wildlife conservation approaches.
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking of portfolio projects in terms of donor funding installments, payments and reporting

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated success in non-profit fundraising, including securing and managing grant awards from international organizations, bilateral development cooperation agencies, the EU, philanthropic foundations, and European zoos.
  • Experience working with SalesForce or other donor CRM database preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sophisticated verbal and written communications skills in English, French and one other European language, preferably German.
  • Consummate relationship building skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior writing and planning and project management skills. Experience working in a non-profit institution of comparable complexity and scale.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation preferred, especially of Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation.
  • Experience in the environmental conservation sector preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • Able to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment; able to remain stationary at a computer for extended periods of time and move around his/her assigned work space.
  • Some domestic travel and international travel is expected (up to 20%).

 

Working Conditions and Travel

  • Home-based, remote working arrangement, with occasional meetings and coworking with Panthera colleagues.
