Simformotion™, a leader in the simulation and training field, has an opportunity for an experienced Funding and Sales Specialist to support a team of sales reps. Simformotion produces and sells Cat® Simulator Systems as a licensee of Caterpillar and has several heavy equipment simulator reseller agreements. Note: This person will NOT be responsible for closing sales. 

As a Funding and Sales Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our sales team in identifying, preparing, and submitting grant and contract opportunities. You will be responsible for conducting detailed research into federal, state, and local legislation and funding programs, completing complex paperwork with precision, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Your exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively will contribute to our success. 

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct in-depth research into federal, state, and local legislation, funding programs, and grant opportunities to support strategic sales initiatives.
  • Track government and private funding announcements and stay updated on industry trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Complete and submit grant and contract paperwork with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring all required documentation is included and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to prepare and submit grant proposals and contract bids, coordinating with internal departments to gather necessary documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of grants and contracts including client information and related documents.
  • Act as a liaison between the sales team, clients, and internal departments. Coordinate meetings and provide updates on the status of grant or contract applications.
  • Generate reports and provide analysis on grant and contract sales activities.
  • Provide general administrative support to the sales team as needed:
  • Review quotes and orders to ensure all information is correct.
  • Communicate with customers on delays, deliveries, and other scheduled services.
  • Manage data input and output in CRM system.
  • Learn details of multiple products and industries.
  • Output shipping and freight quotes through digital system.
  • Learn details of multiple products and industries.
  • Assist the sales team with setting up and running virtual customer demos.
  • Participate in sales events and customer meetings to support relationship-building and funding discussions.
  • Conduct AI and marketing-related research to support sales initiatives.
  • Handle customer inquiries when sales representatives are unavailable.

Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of grant and contract terminology, compliance requirements, and sales processes.
  • Proven experience and a track record of success working with government contracts, preferably within the education sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal contracting regulations and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately complete complex grant and contract forms, with strong attention to regulatory details.
  • Experience researching state and federal legislation related to funding opportunities.
  • Comfortable with technology, including a willingness to learn new technology regarding simulators.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a sales support or similar role, with an emphasis on grants and contracts experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with government agency representatives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to follow through on all assignments.
  • Exhibit a genuine desire to build and maintain rapport with customers and associates.
  • Computer knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Dependable; able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and keep commitments.
  • Familiarity with Cat equipment, dealerships, or equipment training is helpful but not mandatory.

This position is located in East Peoria, Illinois.
