Primary Purpose:

Motivate students to become better citizens. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications: Education/Certification:

 

Associates degree or higher

Service JROTC certification or

Valid Texas Teacher certification or

Valid Texas Teacher certification in JROTC

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

 

Physically qualified to conduct ROTC instructions as required

Proactive, task oriented and motivated to serve the school and the community

Possess the desire and appreciate the opportunity to work with young people

Demonstrated computer literacy skills

Demonstrated organizational skills

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form

Ability to teach high school cadets/students.

 

Experience: Retired Army Non-Commissioned Officer

Major Responsibilities and Duties:                                    Instructional Stratgies:

  1. Manage the ROTC program effectively according to law, regulations, policies and principles

  2. Actively recruit cadets/students to join ROTC; and maintain enrollment 

  3. Achieve desired learning goals by teaching prescribed ROTC subjects listed in the Program on Instruction

  4. Modify and improve given instruction by remaining continuously alert to new and alternative instructional methods and motivational techniques

  5. Comply with school districts safety guidelines in all instances when instructing, supervising, monitoring, accompanying or escorting cadets

  6. Ensure facilities are adequate to support program

  7. Attend professional development

  8. Develop and maintain instructor portfolio

  9. Develop and present quarterly academic achievement briefing                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Classroom Management and Organization:                                                                  

  10. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

  11. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

  12. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

  13. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Communication:

  14. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students/cadets, principals, and teachers.

  15. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students/cadets, parents, and community members.

  16. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Professional Growth and Development:

  17. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

  18. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

  19. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

  20. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

  21. Other duties as assigned.
