Description
We are seeking a talented and driven Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for new product development and continuation engineering of existing products. You will play a key part in enhancing product performance, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting smooth transitions from design to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and development of innovative new products.
- Continuously improving the performance and reliability of existing products.
- Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including bulletins, patent applications, mold designs, and competitive analyses.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure seamless product introduction into manufacturing and the market.

Your Day to Day
1. Responsible to continuously improve the performance of existing products and manufacturing processes.
2. Ensures engineering documentation is current and accurate. Documents include: technical bulletins, patent applications, mold design, competitive analysis, product specifications, product cleaning and maintenance procedures, purchasing specifications, mechanical drawings, etc.
3. Works to develop testing protocols that simulate field use.
4. Strong understanding of materials science and/or material engineering
5. Implement ASTM standard.
6. Ability to perform root cause failure analysis, including understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE)
7. Benchmarking and testing of competitors’ products to gain a solid understanding of material benefits or vulnerabilities.
8. New product development projects as assigned.
9. A key team member in new product development with focus on smoothly introducing products into manufacturing and preparing the organization for market launch.
10. Conduct tests on products and materials.
11. Conduct field trials for new products.
12. Develop and document process parameters and procedures.
13. Will apply statistics to production and quality situations.
14. Will to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, etc. to practical situations, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to assist the development of products.
15. Travel up to 10%.
16. General housekeeping duties including sweeping, etc. to keep all work areas clean.
17. Compliance with ISO 9001 standard
18. Commitment to 5s, including:
a. Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a clean organized, and efficient workplace by applying the principles of 5S.
b. Actively participate in keeping the work environment orderly.
c. Identify opportunities to improve workflows.

Requirements
What We Would Love About You:
1. Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other equivalent Engineering required.
2. Preferred experience in industrial and garage environments and other real-world industrial applications.
3. Minimum of 2 years of plastics molding experience.
4. Minimum of 2 years of product design/development experience.
5. Computer experience with 2 years of Co Create and CAD or other drawing software.
6. Written and oral communication skills desired to communicate with all levels within the company.
