This is a Promotional and Open recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill a vacancy. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. In a promotional and open recruitment, the promotional list shall take precedence. When the promotional list contains fewer than three eligible and willing employees, certification of additional ranks shall then be made from the open list.

Positions in this classification are full-time 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
 
 
The recruitment process will consist of a supplemental evaluation questionnaire and an oral technical interview, which is tentatively scheduled during the weeks of October 20 - November 7, 2025. Qualified applicants will be notified by email.


This position is only used for the duration of a specially funded program and may be terminated once the funding ends.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the designated District director, assist in coordinating, planning, developing, and implementing educational programs with families and educators to benefit student success through family and community engagement. The FACE Specialist provides outreach to the community, families, and staff to promote and assist with family and community engagement. Works with the school District leadership team, a broad range of students, families, community members, and District staff. Leads and trains assigned personnel.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
       
This position is responsible for supporting the Community Schools model and strategies. Individuals in this position act as liaisons between the schools, families, and community agencies for the benefit of student wellness and success. Cultivates partnerships with external partners to leverage resources for student success and family engagement. Facilitates home and community understanding of school programs and community resources. This classification is required to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position is only used for the duration of a specially funded program and will be terminated once the program funding ends.

Position Duties

Organize and facilitate programming (workshops or training) to engage families in the academic, wellness, and social-emotional success of students through a variety of services and programs designed to improve student outcomes. E
 
Provide support to the FACE Liaisons by providing content, structure, and guidance on parent and family engagement programs, practices, and strategies. E

Foster relationships and partnerships with external community and educational organizations focused on family engagement linked to student success. E
 
Collaborate with administrators to design and implement programs and training that involve parents in school activities, advisory committees, parent education programs, workshops, and social service programs. E
 
Coordinate or provide staff development and training in best practices for family engagement. E
 
Coordinate and support parent contact and follow-up for purposes of providing referrals and information on programs and supports that will assist with student success. E
 
Collaborate with internal and external educational partners to provide programs and resources that are supportive of students’ needs; develop and implement strategies and processes to increase parent participation in meetings, school activities, and district events. E
 
Develop, establish, and coordinate community resource contacts; implement and maintain a menu of strategic program services, and an information database according to the priorities identified for use by District staff, school staff, parent groups and families. E
 
Monitor the use of community resources and evaluate the effectiveness of those resources in meeting school, community, and family needs. E
 
Serves as a liaison and resource for staff, parents, parent groups, community groups, and advisory committees to facilitate parent and family engagement. E
 
Support and assist with District and/or site-based teams (COST, PBIS, and other leadership or advisory teams) to address student needs. E
 
Work directly with District and school administrators to review and update existing parent involvement policies, compacts, and programs to ensure they meet the standards set by state and federal laws and regulations. E
 
Create and maintain processes for collecting data regarding enrollment, participation, and effectiveness of parent education and family engagement programs. E

Analyze data to determine parent engagement trends and program effectiveness. E
 
Prepare reports and presentations to share parent and family engagement practices, programs, and results with interested educational partners. E
 
Create training content, activities, agendas, and fliers for parent workshops and education programs. 
 
Participate in ongoing professional development, attend training and any other meetings as required. 
 
Coordinate translation services, transportation, and childcare to ensure families have access to parent education events, workshops and services. E
 
Conducts home visits to help identify needs and provide appropriate services for the student and their family. E
 
Perform a variety of general and varied clerical duties. E
 
Interpret and translate as needed. 
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Federal, state, and local community resource organizations. 
Applicable sections of the California Education Code and California Code of Regulations. 
Written and spoken English, as well as a designated second language necessary to meet the needs of non-English speaking families. 
Relevant guidelines and best practices pertaining to the coordination of educational programs. 
Methods and approaches to planning programs and services, according to identified needs and requirements of the assigned programs. 
Training, program development, group facilitation, and consultation. 
Principles and practices of parent education, outreach, and family involvement. Community surveys, basic research, analysis methodology, and assessment tools.

Other Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor’s degree in social work, child and adolescent studies, education, school counseling, or a closely related field. Three (3) years of professional experience in family engagement, college, and career programs, administering training programs, counseling or working with community service agencies administering services. Experience working with children and adolescents in the school setting or experience working in a public agency is highly desirable.  

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license. Must be, and remain, insurable under the District's vehicle driver's insurance policy at the standard rate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbents in this classification work indoors and outdoors, with direct contact with the public, students, District staff, and the community. Work is performed with continuously changing priorities and interruptions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within moderate noise level range.This position requires working with high volume, tight deadlines, and without direct guidance from the supervisor.
