Play a key role in maintaining Redland City’s water and wastewater networks, keeping hydrants, mains, and related infrastructure operating safely and efficiently. You’ll be based on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands – either a resident or willing to travel via ferry daily. This is a hands-on, field-based role with opportunities to progress to higher levels by developing your skills, gaining qualifications, and demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure
Operate tools, small plant, and light equipment safely on site
Perform confined space entry and traffic management tasks under supervision
Help plan and schedule jobs, requisition materials, and maintain accurate records
Use SCADA, telemetry, and GIS to monitor and support operations
Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and report risks
Work closely with the team to achieve tasks efficiently and safely
Provide professional customer service and clear communication at all times
Skills and experience:
Hands-on experience in water, wastewater, or construction-related maintenance
Ability to operate and maintain tools, small plant, and light equipment
Comfortable performing manual labour, confined space entry, and traffic management
Basic administrative skills: job planning, scheduling, and record-keeping
Familiarity with SCADA, telemetry, GIS, or willingness to learn
Understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements
