Description

This position will direct the package engineering functions for the Package Engineering group. World⁃wide engineering and technical support will be provided to Package Development for the design and manufacture of primary components.

The group will search for new engineering concepts, processes, equipment and services to advance:

  • the basic development process
  • suppliers' abilities to develop and manufacture components which meet Estée Lauder's specifications for performance and reliability
  • efficient handling of components at our filling locations
  • the use of innovative engineering techniques
  • the improvement of technical information flow throughout the corporation

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Packaging Department's Goals and manage the accomplishment of the group's Mission.
  • Instill a clear understanding of Estée Lauder's Corporate Vision within the group and reflect that Vision in all business activities.
  • May oversee and manage the work of a Packaging Engineer and Engineering Assistant to assure consistent, reliable and timely response.
  • Assist our manufacturing locations and our suppliers in the fabrication and assembly of new and existing packages.
  • Review all designs for manufacturability. Provide engineering direction for form, fit and function for all primary components world⁃wide. Evaluate and approve all new and revised tooling for primary components.
  • Consult with Marketing, Design, Purchasing, suppliers, and outside services as required to expedite the development process.
  • Train and maintain a high level of competence within the group recognizing the need for both technical expertise and management succession.
  • Perform the duties of a Packaging Engineer for selected Category areas.
  • Design and implement new systems as required to improve, enhance and advance the basic mission of the Technical Packaging Group.
  • Engineer and fabricate components using 3 Dimensional Computer Aided Design and Rapid Prototyping machines.
  • Set specifications for newly created projects and write engineering package profiles.
  • Work with Package Development, Global Supplier Relations, and suppliers to manage project to completion.
  • Assess and document supplier's technical capabilities and communicate this information to the corporation.

Qualifications

  • Position requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging and has 8+ years experience in Package Development and/or Engineering. IOPP certification is a plus.
  • Must be knowledgeable in manufacturing of components fabricated by Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Glass Forming, Metal Stamping, Decoration and Assembly techniques.
  • Must have experience in Solidworks 3⁃D CAD software, Rapid Prototyping, Moldflow Analysis (MFA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Pay Range:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $155,000.00  to $255,000.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program as well as participation in the share incentive plan. In addition,
