Job Summary
The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Student Financial Services Director oversees student financial aid and services at a health sciences campus that serves over 3,200 professionals (dentistry, medicine, nursing, physical therapy & pharmacy), self-supporting, and graduate/PhD students. The Director manages the financial aid programs for the campus, oversees operation, which includes managing 8 full-time employees, and other work-study students. The Director recommends changes to policies and procedures to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of student aid (scholarships, grants, federal and campus loans, VA/military, and fellowships) that are in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations, and supports the departmental objectives of Student Academic Affairs, the Graduate Division, the professional schools (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy), and the UCSF campus at large. Additionally, the Director ensures their team implements any required changes in the student lending and credit management landscape, and the Intuitions’ response to the same, which involves effectively understanding and being sensitive to the needs of UCSF students and the impacts of debt upon their professional lives, as well as the ability of the schools or graduate division to work within the complex framework of federal, state, and institutional regulations to respond to change.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $110,400 - $235,400 (Annual Rate).

- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Eight (8) or more years of related work experience
- Seven (7) or more years of supervisory/management experience
- Advanced knowledge of techniques for recruitment and retention of students through financial aid
- Advanced knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid, including needs analysis and packaging
- Advanced knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures related to budget, accounting, human resources, IT, and student services
- Strong ability to oversee and define specifications for financial aid systems programming
- Experience using complex databases
- Advanced skills in policy and program development
- Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques
