Job Summary

The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Student Financial Services Director oversees student financial aid and services at a health sciences campus that serves over 3,200 professionals (dentistry, medicine, nursing, physical therapy & pharmacy), self-supporting, and graduate/PhD students.  The Director manages the financial aid programs for the campus, oversees operation, which includes managing 8 full-time employees, and other work-study students.  The Director recommends changes to policies and procedures to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of student aid (scholarships, grants, federal and campus loans, VA/military, and fellowships) that are in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations, and supports the departmental objectives of Student Academic Affairs, the Graduate Division, the professional schools (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy), and the UCSF campus at large.  Additionally, the Director ensures their team implements any required changes in the student lending and credit management landscape, and the Intuitions’ response to the same, which involves effectively understanding and being sensitive to the needs of UCSF students and the impacts of debt upon their professional lives, as well as the ability of the schools or graduate division to work within the complex framework of federal, state, and institutional regulations to respond to change. 


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $110,400 - $235,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Student Financial Services Office is comprised of eight dedicated and highly experienced financial aid professionals who are committed to serving over 3,200 graduate and professional students by providing them the resources, services, and funding necessary in reaching their educational objectives, and ultimately earning their degree from UCSF’s prestigious, and highly ranked, health professions schools.  From the recruitment, admissions, and application process to the awarding and disbursement of educational funds, the Student Financial Services Office provides financial aid awards that can include scholarships, grants, loans, and federal work-study.  Additionally, the Student Financial Aid Office provides services such as loan debt counseling, budget management, temporary housing solutions, CalFresh, , financial literacy, tax workshops, and budgeting tools. These services have been developed and refined for UCSF students   to succeed in the management of their educational expenses and in the repayment of their student loans to successfully help them make the best choices as they invest in their future in becoming excellent health care professionals. Student Financial Services also serves as a central technical partner with SIS/Student Information Systems, Controller’s Office, Information Technology Governance, and Accounts Payable for process improvements, workflow changes, and systems enhancements which ensure federal/state/intuitional regulatory standards are met in the timely and accurate disbursement of financial aid funds to students.
