Responsibilities:
1. Student Assistance:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, following the guidelines and strategies provided by the regular paraprofessional or special education team.
2. Instructional Support:
- Assist students in understanding and completing instructional tasks, maintaining continuity with the established learning plan.
3. Behavioral Support:
- Implement behavior management strategies as outlined by the regular paraprofessional or special education team, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
4. Adaptation of Materials:
- Modify and adapt instructional materials as needed to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
5. Collaboration:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to ensure the effective implementation of support strategies.
6. Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, teachers, and other staff members, providing updates on student progress and any relevant information.
7. Flexibility:
- Adapt quickly to the unique needs of different classrooms and students, demonstrating flexibility in your support approach.
8. Professional Conduct:
- Adhere to professional standards and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
Qualifications:
1. Educational Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous coursework or experience in education, special education, or a related field is preferred.
2. Experience:
- Previous experience working with students, especially those with disabilities, is advantageous.
3. Interpersonal Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students and school staff.
4. Adaptability:
- Ability to adapt to different educational settings, student needs, and support strategies.
5. Empathy:
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding for the unique challenges faced by students with disabilities.
