Overview

Experienced CNC Machinist who is also a skilled Tool Maker and Machine Builder to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in precision machining, tool making, and custom part manufacturing, with strong CAD skills and expertise in both CNC and manual machine tool equipment operation. Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation control systems is essential. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a passion for innovation and problem-solving in a fast-paced development environment.

Responsibilities

  • CNC Machining: Set up, operate, and program CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) to produce precision parts to tight tolerances, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Tool Making: Design, fabricate, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to support manufacturing processes, using both CNC and manual machining techniques.
  • Machine Building: Assemble, test, and troubleshoot custom machinery, assist in installing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation control systems.
  • CAD Design: Utilize CAD software (AutoCad, Inventor and Fusion360) to create and modify technical drawings for tools, parts, and machine assemblies.
  • Manual Machining: Operate manual machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) for prototyping, repairs, and custom fabrication.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on machines and industrial equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation system.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts and tools using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with AMS team as well as other WI engineering, production, and process improvement teams to optimize manufacturing processes and implement continuous improvements, custom and new equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining processes, tool designs, and part drawings.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in CNC machining, tool making, and machine building in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in CNC programming and operation (G-code, Mastercam or Fusion 360).
    • Expertise in manual machine tool operation (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
    • Strong CAD skills for designing tools and machine components (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor preferred).
    • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation control systems (PLCs, AC drive, servo motors).
    • Mechanical aptitude for assembling and troubleshooting complex machinery.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or technical certification in machining, tool making, or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Effective communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Travel: Offsite support could be domestic or international travel once or twice a year.
