We are seeking a Release Train Engineer 


This role is contingent upon award


Responsibilities:


The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. RTEs (Release Train Engineer) communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.


  •  Provides leadership and coaching in the Scaled Agile Framework and Agile principles, leads the Agile Release Train, and is responsible for planning, execution, and problem resolution
  •  Comfortable with liberally sharing knowledge across a multi-disciplinary team to coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile methodologies, practices, and mindsets 
  •  Provide day-to-day leadership and management of assigned team members, including setting clear expectations, coaching for performance, conducting regular check-ins, and supporting professional development.
  •  Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineering 
  •  Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs) 
  •  Facilitate the PI planning event and PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events 
  •  Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency 
  •  Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync 
  •  Facilitate System Demos 
  •  Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve 
  •  Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities 
  •  Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators 
  •  Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline 
  •  Help manage risks and dependencies; Escalate and track impediments; Provide input to address critical bottlenecks 
  •  Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment 
  •  Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

  •     Minimum of 10 years of related experience. 
  •      A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. With eight years of general information technology experience and at least four years of specialized experience, a degree is not required.
  • Demonstrated grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices, including the challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program.
  • Experience as an RTE
  • Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification
  • Familiar with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience working with development and test teams
  • Demonstrated leadership and analytical skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust; residing in the United States


Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC) certification 
  • Proven experience managing staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence, motivate teams, and address performance concerns constructively.

  

Working Environment:
eSimplicity supports a hybrid work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by your manager.

 Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 25% per year.
