Our Private Sector Business Unit, Power Market Sector has an immediate opening for a motivated, achievement-oriented entry to mid-level Environmental Professional with compliance and permitting, and client coordination experience in the Energy/Power Sector to join our growing team. The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge base in the application of regulations, understanding of local, state, and federal compliance requirements, regulatory experience with project delivery and proposal development skills, and ability to work collaboratively in teams (virtually and in-person). Detailed Description:
This role will provide a high level of support for ongoing and new projects addressing environmental concerns of private sector projects, specifically in the Energy/Power Sector. We are seeking a candidate with experience with conducting wetland/water delineations, environmental permitting and regulatory compliance, working on projects including Clean Water Act (402, 404, 401, 316) permitting, federal/state/local stormwater permitting, permit compliance activities, oversight of water quality, compliance with stormwater and best management practices, endangered species, cultural resources, land use planning, and supporting technical studies. Experience conducting environmental site assessments (in accordance with ASTM E-1527-21 standard) and/or audits is also a plus.

Job Responsibilities Expectations:
- Drive health and safety practices throughout all aspects of work;
- Perform field investigations of projects sites including wetland and stream delineations with functional assessments according to applicable methodologies, aquatic and environmental assessments, environmental sampling (i.e., soil, surface water, groundwater, etc.), and GPS/mobile data collection;
- Perform environmental inspections and other site inspections, record and convey field observations accurately, communicate observations with contractors, clients, and regulatory parties;
- Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables;
- Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines;
- Successfully manage and deliver tasks/projects on time, on budget, and with high quality;
- Manage and execute work on compliance and permitting for industrial, commercial and/or retail facilities including program planning and development, permitting, and reporting;
- Execute activities on small to large projects for federal, state, or local environmental permitting;
- Perform work in a team environment or work independently with multiple project budgets and deadlines simultaneously;
- Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve production and efficiency;
- Implement BC’s quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) process; and
- Support business development pursuits related to client opportunities.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in natural resources, environmental science, biology, ecology, or related science.
- Minimum two years of professional or academic experience in the ecological and water resources field.
- Working knowledge of aquatic systems for physical and biological assessments or investigations.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
- Experience working within the Power sector (natural gas, electric, renewable energy, etc)
- Excellent technical writing and communications skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Ability to delineate wetlands and other waters using the appropriate regional supplements to the USACE Wetland Delineation Manual.
- Related professional experience with environmental permitting including, but not limited to, USACE, EPA, State Environmental Departments (i.e., Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, or Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality), local county, parish, and municipal agencies.
- Project experience facilitating and working with regulators and clients on projects associated with compliance and permitting.
- Project management skills including attention to health and safety; program delivery strategy development and execution by collaborating with a team of project managers and staff; and implementation of QA/QC
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Working knowledge of erosion and sediment control permits and best management practices (BMPs).
- Proficiency with GPS technology or other mobile data collection (Trimble, GNSS Receivers, tablets, ArcMap, etc.) preferred.
- Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred, but not required.
- State-specific wetland certifications and erosion and sediment control certifications preferred, but not required.
Field assignments require ability to walk field sites of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground to perform inspections, collect samples and take photographs.
Valid driver’s license, and good driving record required; and
Periodic travel with field work is anticipated.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $58,000 - $79,000
Location B: $64,000 - $87,000
Location C: $70,000 - $95,000
