Job Purpose
Performs various accounting duties necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the
accounting department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plays a key role in the purchase order process in collaboration with the Associate Accountant. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: entering and posting purchase order transactions, reviewing invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper period allocation of purchase orders, reconciling accounts and partnering with departments to ensure compliance with the organization’s purchase order policy.
- Collaborates closely with the Manager of Treasury & Reconciliation to manage credit card transactions and investigates discrepancies or chargebacks. Partners with various departments to resolve transaction issues and ensure accurate reconciliation of related accounts.
- Performs complex accounting tasks, including revenue and expense accruals, deferrals, and accurate allocation across reporting periods. Oversee the allocation process for -related calculations and ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of associated accounts.
- Responsible for reviewing, posting, and integrating all event sales transactions. Work closely with the Facilities and Events Administrator to address and resolve discrepancies.
- Reviews expense transactions ready for importing to ensure compliance and accurate coding.
- Reconciles ticketing transactions to CRM and general ledger.
- Reconciles box office show statements to CRM and general ledger.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy, making necessary adjustments as needed.
- Provides backup for Associate Accountant.
- Assists with preparation for annual financial statement audit by preparing various schedules and responding to auditor inquires.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- BS/BA/BBA in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills may be acquired
Experience
- Minimum four years of experience in accounting.
- Experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred.
Skills/Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting procedures.
- Excel skills must be at least intermediate, include tables, pivot tables, lookups and
complex formulas and functions. - Strong knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Sage Intacct is preferred.
- Experience with expense management, particularly Ramp is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to appropriately prioritize tasks; strong organizational skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work well within a team setting as well as with internal and external customers.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The
employee frequently is required to move around the office and work environment; use hands to
handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard
office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position operates in a hybrid office environment in which select days may be remote.
Compensation
$74,000 - $79,200 annually
