SUMMARY 

The Director of Donor and Business Development leads fundraising, donor relations, strategic partnerships, and business development efforts to advance the mission of St. Vincent Family Services (SVFS). This role is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive development strategy, cultivating donors, securing major gifts and sponsorships, and driving new business opportunities with healthcare, education, government, and community partners. The Director works closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and program staff to ensure long-term sustainability, growth, and impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our clients, colleagues and community partners from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Integrates principles of Trauma Informed Care in all aspects of work.
  • Is sensitive to the children’s culture and socioeconomic characteristics that deliver the best possible care to the youth and families served.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Create and implement annual and multi-year fundraising strategies.
  • Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention efforts for individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and planned giving strategies.
  • Research, write, and manage grants and proposals.
  • Produce donor impact and fundraising reports for leadership and the Board.
  • Oversee annual fundraising campaigns and special events.
  • Build and manage a robust volunteer engagement program that attracts, trains, and retains volunteers as ambassadors, advocates, and potential donors.

Business Development & Community Partnerships

  • Build and expand strategic relationships with schools, healthcare providers, managed care organizations, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Identify, develop, and negotiate new business opportunities and contracts that align with SVFS’s mission and financial goals.
  • Partner with referral sources (courts, schools, PCSAO’s, behavioral health providers, faith and community leaders) to grow admissions and increase access to services.
  • Represent SVFS in community meetings, professional associations, and industry conferences.
  • Monitor referral and partnership pipelines; develop strategies to increase engagement and conversion.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing and communications plan to elevate SVFS’s visibility.
  • Manage brand identity, storytelling, and messaging across platforms.
  • Oversee digital marketing, social media, newsletters, press releases, and the SVFS website.
  • Lead promotional efforts for fundraising and outreach events.
  • Coordinate media relations and act as spokesperson when appropriate.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise development/marketing staff, interns, or volunteers as assigned.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board on donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Provide training and support to board and staff in fundraising best practices.
  • Establish measurable goals and track performance metrics for both fundraising and marketing.
  • All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides day-to-day supervision to the Development Coordinator (FTE) and Grants Coordinator (PT)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, business, or related field 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising and marketing.
  • Minimum 3 years in supervision of employees &/or vendors
  • Proven success with donor cultivation, major gifts, sponsorships, and events.
  • Strong grant writing and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities.
  • Experience with CRM and donor management software (Donor Perfect)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
  • Passion for the mission of SVFS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours due to the service delivery and administrative needs of SVFC clients and families. 
  • Requires travel within the local community to attend meetings, events, and outreach activities in support of marketing and development initiatives.
