What are we looking for?
JOB SUMMARY
Associate Director, Operations & Communications -
This innovative position will play an instrumental role on the Major Gifts team through organized planning of unique engagement experiences, management of vendor networks & internal processes, as well as implementation of multiple affinity groups/giving society strategic plans aimed at increasing revenue and retention; provides direct engagement opportunities; effectively supports management of volunteer boards, committees, cabinets, etc.; responding to inbound communications with exemplary/prompt customer service; support growing affinity group/giving society membership; expanding individual engagement to the entire region; stewarding UWGA friends and partners; engaging a diverse audience; and more. In pursuit of these goals and other measurable metrics, the Associate Director will utilize, and be responsible for, various channels to build connections within the UWGA community and beyond, including but not limited to, volunteerism, phone, social media, email, events, surveys, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of proven success in event execution, fundraising, sales, or account management.
- Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Organization skills for a fast-paced work environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with affinity group and giving society strategy leads to support strategic plans and to execute engagement experiences and donor stewardship interaction through donor affinity group(s) and giving society membership.
- Execute aspects of engagement and fundraising events as needed. Create best practices and support across all team events. Design experiences that donors rate highly from invitation to registration to follow-up communications.
- Plan and execute a variety of engagement and fundraising events and oversee the strategic engagement of attendees during the event and beyond.
- Support of affinity group/giving society strategy lead management of volunteers/boards/committees/cabinets retreats & meetings.
- Support content & graphics of e-communications, direct mail, social media & and stewardship information production and timelines for affinity groups/giving societies in partnership with marketing and the Major Gifts team.
- Establish strong partnership with marketing team to draft and ensure a high quality for individual engagement marketing materials, commitment forms, letters, etc.
- Design and implement strategies to assist with the identification, qualification, conversion, solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship of UWGA donors and prospects.
- Develop creative strategies for identifying and engaging diverse constituencies critical to the organization’s fundraising goals.
- Meet all assigned goals and metrics.
- Be service-oriented and collaborative in nature.
- Offer staff support to volunteer members as needed.
- Utilize the UWGA CRM to track data and ensure data accuracy.
- Monitor the donor audit folder daily, complete pending audits, and ensure the accuracy and proper documentation of all donor records.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Comfortable engaging with volunteer boards, committees, and cabinets, providing professional staff support that elevates both the donor and volunteer experience.
