Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dependable and professional Security Guard to join our Brighter Futures team. The Security Guard plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, visitors, and facilities. This position provides 24/7 support for security needs, emergency response, and safety compliance.

Who We Are
Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is a growing, rural Critical Access Health System located in Madison, West Virginia. At the core of our system is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, along with a network of clinics, specialty services, and community programs like Brighter Futures, which provides outreach, prevention, and supportive services for our community. Key Responsibilities

Conduct security rounds and verify that all facilities, offices, and buildings are secure.

Monitor parking areas, public spaces, and lighting for safety hazards; report and address issues promptly.

Assist with emergency response, including evacuations, critical incidents, and safety drills.

Control and de-escalate situations involving patients, visitors, or staff with professionalism and tact.

Prepare detailed daily reports of security activity and incidents.

Support patient, visitor, and staff safety by offering escorts to vehicles and assisting with mobility needs.

Respond to alarms and coordinate with hospital leadership and local law enforcement when necessary.

Assist with snow and debris removal from walkways, parking areas, and entrances when needed.

Maintain compliance with hospital security policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred

Strong communication, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations

Reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting 24/7 security coverage

Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and responding quickly in emergencies

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
- Ability to communicate on various levels: verbal, telephone and written, to include management reports, visitor, patient and employee levels, writing incident reports and monitor all areas of the hospital.
- Must have sufficient dexterity and mobility to handle equipment efficiently and safely.
- Must be mentally alert and able to exercise solid judgement and assertive in job duties.
- Responsible to encourage patients, visitors and guests to not smoke on hospital property and only in designated areas.

Physical demands
- Ability to perform various motor skills such as; walking for long periods of time, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds)-using proper lifting techniques, sitting, stair climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis.
- Ability to communicate on various levels: verbal, telephone and written, to include management reports, visitor, patient and employee levels, writing incident reports and monitor all areas of the hospital.
- Must have sufficient dexterity and mobility to handle equipment efficiently and safely.

Required education and experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred education and experience
- Preferably two (2) years of experience in security guard training or experience.
