Here's the opportunity:

The Cloud Infrastructure Operations & Security Specialist is a versatile and experienced IT professional responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the organization’s Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure, while ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, and optimized for business needs.

This role is ideal for a hands-on, proactive problem-solver who excels at both technical execution and security remediation across cloud and on-premises environments. The incumbent will bring strong expertise in Azure administration, automation, business continuity, and disaster recovery, with the ability to support related platforms such as O365, Exchange, SharePoint and Microsoft SaaS applications. They will ensure that cybersecurity risks are identified and mitigated while enabling scalable, cost-effective infrastructure operations.

A collaborative team player, the Cloud Infrastructure Operations & Security Specialist will provide expert recommendations to the IT Manager and broader IT team on how to optimize, secure, and evolve technology platforms to support the organization’s long-term business goals.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in Toronto, ON. The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office per week). 

Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure (40%)

  • Implement, and maintain Azure environments, including Resource Groups, VNets, Subnets, App Services, Key Vault, API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Power Apps, and Application Registrations.
  • Manage Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), including sizing, scaling, patching, monitoring, and integrating into hybrid AD.
  • Configure and administer Azure Storage accounts (Blob, File, Queue, Table), including replication, backup, lifecycle policies, and security.
  • Manage Azure Backup and Site Recovery to support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Configure and secure Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups (NSGs), route tables, private endpoints, and peering to ensure secure, high-performing networking.
  • Configure and administer  Azure Entra ID (internal tenant) and External Entra ID / B2B/B2C for application access, identity federation, and secure authentication.
  • Develop and maintain API connections and integrations across Azure services, SaaS apps, and on-prem systems.
  • Deploy and manage Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights for monitoring, troubleshooting, and proactive alerting.
  • Develop and manage Azure governance (policies, RBAC, subscriptions) ensuring scalable and secure operations.
  • Configure and manage DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform), and automation for provisioning and deployments.
  • Plan, implement, and test Azure disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) solutions, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize Azure performance, cost management, and resilience.
  • Apply Azure security best practices (encryption, access controls, endpoint protection, logging, and monitoring)..

Cybersecurity Threat Mitigation (40%) 

  • Identify, investigate, and remediate security vulnerabilities across cloud, on-premises, and SaaS platforms, ensuring timely resolution of issues before they can be exploited.
  • Conduct and respond to vulnerability scans and penetration testing results, developing and executing remediation plans to mitigate identified threats.
  • Oversee and maintain a robust patch management program for servers, endpoints, applications, and cloud services, ensuring security updates are applied in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with MDR/EDR/XDR providers for real-time threat detection, monitoring, and rapid incident response.
  • Administer and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS solutions, and network ACLs, ensuring secure configuration and continuous protection against evolving threats.
  • Manage Wi-Fi security controls, including segmentation, encryption, rogue device detection, and mitigation of wireless vulnerabilities.
  • Enforce Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions to secure laptops, mobile devices, and tablets, including encryption, remote wipe, compliance policies, and secure app deployment.
  • Maintain site-to-site VPNs and client VPNs, ensuring secure, reliable remote connectivity across multiple locations and hybrid environments.
  • Monitor and oversee Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and advanced threat-hunting processes to proactively detect and contain risks.
  • Maintain an accurate software and hardware asset inventory, ensuring lifecycle management, license compliance, and timely decommissioning of outdated systems to reduce attack surfaces.
  • Support and prepare for audits, compliance reviews, and reporting related to data protection, regulatory requirements, and organizational cybersecurity policies.
  • Provide recommendations and technical leadership to improve the overall security posture of the organization, staying ahead of emerging threats and industry best practices.

On-Premises & Hybrid Infrastructure  (10%)

  • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and AD Connect to ensure reliable identity and access management across hybrid environments.
  • Support Windows Server infrastructure, VMware, and Veeam backup solutions (local, cloud, and O365), including design, deployment, and execution of backup strategies.
  • Maintain and regularly test on-premises and cloud recovery procedures to validate data integrity, availability, and compliance with business continuity requirements.
  • Manage and troubleshoot organizational networks, including switches, Wi-Fi security, ACLs, VPNs, and storage systems (NAS/SAN).
  • Provide support for hybrid Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and O365 workloads, ensuring reliability and secure integration with Azure services.
  • Recommend and implement optimizations, modernizations, or migrations to Azure-based services where applicable to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Application & SaaS Administration  (10%) 

  • Advance administration on Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and other SaaS applications, ensuring reliable performance and security.
  • Administer Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM & Business Central), supporting configuration, user management, integration, and ongoing operations.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 licensing administration, ensuring efficient allocation, compliance, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure seamless integration with Azure Active Directory and enforce proper role-based access controls across applications.
  • Provide advanced end-user support for escalated technical issues across Microsoft SaaS platforms and related business applications.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to improve service delivery, user experience, and digital productivity platforms.

Requirements

What you will have:     

  • Relevant experience may include education with a focus in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on career  experience.
  • 5+ years in IT infrastructure roles with significant Azure cloud experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS/PaaS services, DevOps, and identity/security management.
  • Hands-on expertise with Active Directory, networking, and O365 administration.
  • Experience with security monitoring, SIEM, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Certifications that would be considered an asset:
    • Microsoft Azure (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, AZ-500, AZ-900, SC-300, SC-200,)
    • Microsoft 365 certifications (MS-100, MS-500)
    • Security certifications (CompTIA Cybersecurity analyst CySA+, CompTIA PenTest+, CEH)
    • ITIL v4 Foundations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and proactive with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a hybrid environment
  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit environment is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism in French & English (spoken & written) – an asset
