Job Summary:

The primary role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to design, analyze, develop, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and commission complex electro-mechanical and robotic systems and sub-systems. Mechanical Engineers evaluate system and performance requirements and translate them into specialized mechanisms that meet the dynamic, creative, and safety needs of our entertainment clients.


Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead or support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic design decisions, including component selection.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (Project, Systems, Controls, Electrical, Analysis, Design Services, etc.) to develop integrated solutions, focusing on:
    • Managing requirements and mechanical scope changes.
    • Defining and delivering mechanical products and tasks within scope and budget.
    • Ensuring understanding of and compliance with requirements and standards.
    • Planning and executing work systematically.
    • Supporting system-level Hazard Analyses (HA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA).
    • Working with SR&M Engineering to define safety functions and mitigations per ISO 13849 or equivalent standards.
  • Participate in all project phases—from conceptual development through final commissioning—balancing customer requirements, product specifications, cost, and schedule.
  • Provide input on mechanical calculations (non-FEA), FEA loading, hydraulic/pneumatic sizing, and facility input loading.
  • Support the development of system architecture block diagrams.
  • Perform mechanical design and drafting using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Contribute to factory and site test plans and assist in test execution.
  • Provide technical content for operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and sufficiency of mechanical design content in all documentation and drawings, including those prepared by support engineers.


Ancillary Duties:

  • Communicate task progress relative to schedule expectations to the Lead Mechanical or Project Engineer.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Analysts to complete mechanical design, drafting, analysis, and documentation.
  • Lead or support customer design reviews as needed.
  • Coordinate with Controls/Electrical Engineers for packaging and mounting of electrical/control equipment.
  • Define and maintain project tolerancing and critical-to-quality philosophies.
  • Assist in sales efforts and customer base expansion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 25% as required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position may include informal supervisory responsibilities.


Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Receives technical direction from the Project Engineer and Chief Mechanical Engineer.


Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related field).
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling, drafting, and analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional License and/or Industry Organization Memberships 
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Ansys for 3D modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting (facility and electrical content).
  • Familiarity with machine safety standards (e.g., EN ISO 13849).
  • Experience with advanced dynamic analysis tools (e.g., LS-Dyna).
  • Background in complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
