JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for working, in coordination with the Facility Manager, to manage the golf operations and help create an exceptional "golf experience". Work is to be performed in conformance with the District policies, but independent judgment and initiative must be exercised in the technical and professional details of the operation.                                                       

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to) 

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising all staff including inside and outside team members.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training of Golf Staff Supervisors.
  • Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures and regular scheduling of staff meetings.
  • Assist the PGA Golf Professional/Head Golf Professional to oversee all golf services and operations.
  • Assist with the over-all operation of the reservation system and the monitoring of play.
  • Assist with the tracking and verifying of all players and guests, golf cars, lockers, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate proper controls.
  • Assist with the overall administration of the handicap program.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
  • Help develop and manage an innovative tournament calendar program that services all customer segments.
  • Assist with the overall operations of a well-managed practice facility, where applicable.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Superintendent, other Golf Professionals, and other District departments.
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of play.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of golf revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Assist with the approval of all weekly golf staff bi-weekly payroll, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Help supervise physical inventories and the display of merchandise.  
  • Assist in the development of necessary systems to safeguard inventories.
  • Assist in the publication of newsletters, informational and promotional materials. 

Supervisory

  • Supervise Inside and Outside Golf Staff Supervisors
  • Assist the PGA Golf Professional/Head Golf Professional with supervision of all team members.
  • Assist with addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Oversee and manage the golf operation and all staff in the absence of the PGA Golf Professional/Head Golf Professional.

Additional                                                                              

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associates degree with two (2) plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Apprentice or Class A PGA or LPGA.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening. 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, management practices and office procedures.
  • Operating knowledge of various office equipment such as multi-line telephone system, photo copier, calculator, and excellent computer skills.

 Skills                                                                     

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Abilities

  • Ability to read/write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

EQUIPMENT (Includes, but not limited to)

Position regularly requires the use of golf cart, office and equipment, including but not limited to, telephones, computers and productivity software.
