JOB TITLE: Interventionist

SUMMARY
The Intervention Teacher facilitates student learning by delivering targeted academic and/or social-emotional support through evidence-based, small-group and individualized instruction. Aligned with state standards and district goals, the Intervention Teacher designs and implements effective interventions, monitors progress, and fosters an inclusive, student-centered environment. This role supports family engagement, collaborates with school teams, and promotes cultural awareness and professional excellence.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Education
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with applicable endorsement(s) as required by the Michigan Department of Education
- Meets highly qualified teacher requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of successful K–5 teaching experience with emphasis on early literacy
- Experience with small group instruction, intervention strategies, and data informed instruction
Preferred:
- Experience designing and delivering adult learning
- At least 2 years in a coaching, mentoring, or supervisory role
- Experience managing instructional programs, initiatives, or teams
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Required Duties & Responsibilities
1. Student Support & Program Implementation
- Design and implement academic and social-emotional interventions in 1:1 and small-group settings
- Administer and analyze universal screeners to guide planning
- Progress monitor students every 8–10 weeks and adjust interventions based on data
- Utilize evidence-based practices to support student development
- Prepare and maintain substitute folders with essential information and daily plans
2. Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to align interventions
- Communicate regularly with families to discuss progress and co-develop support strategies
- Attend parent-teacher conferences to share updates and insights
- Partner with administration and family engagement staff to support events
3. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate intervention records and documentation per district and federal guidelines
- Ensure all data is accessible for review, reporting, or audits as needed
- Aid in completion of Federal Student Reports with coordinator or administration
4. Data & Evaluation
- Collect and analyze student progress data to inform instruction
- Document findings in the MTSS system and adjust plans based on results
- Identify students needing additional support or reevaluation
5. Family & Community Engagement
- Participate in Family/Parent Engagement Night planning and facilitation
- Support home-school connections through proactive and ongoing communication
- Contribute to culturally responsive outreach and engagement strategies

Administrative Functions
- Communicate consistently with your immediate supervisor, GPS Solutions administrative team, and appropriate school-based staff regarding assigned programs and activities.
- Foster and engage in cooperative, professional working relationships.
- Complete all assignments in accordance with GPS Solutions and school policies and procedures.
Human Resource Functions
- Maintain current knowledge of and follow GPS Solutions Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
Confidentiality & Ethical Compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of all student, family, and staff information.
- Understand and fulfill your responsibilities as a mandated reporter in accordance with your state’s regulations.
- Stay current with applicable codes of ethics and legal requirements (e.g., ASCA, NASW, FERPA, state and federal laws).
Payroll & Compliance Functions
- Submit all required compliance documentation to PNP Payroll staff by the designated due dates.
POTENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide professional development or resources to staff or families on intervention strategies
- Collaborate with other GPS Solutions staff to support student needs across programs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
