Summary

Are you a dynamic and results-oriented sales professional with a passion for HVAC systems? We are seeking a highly motivated Commercial HVAC sales representative to join our team.

 

As a Commercial HVAC sales representative, you will be responsible for driving sales, building customer relationships, and promoting our HVAC products and services to business leaders. This role involves selling heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, components, and services to businesses. Key aspects include understanding complex systems, generating and qualifying leads, creating tailored proposals, building strong client relationships, and closing deals. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Prospect & Lead Generation: Identify, qualify, and nurture new commercial accounts via outbound outreach, referrals, networking groups, property managers, and manufacturers/distributors.

 

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct on-site assessments by visiting client locations to evaluate their existing HVAC systems, understand their specific needs (e.g., energy efficiency, building size), and identify pain points.   Gather load/tonnage data, evaluate existing equipment, controls, ventilation, and code considerations; document with photos/notes.

 

  • Scope & Estimating: Collaborate with engineering/operations to develop scopes of work (repair vs. replace), perform takeoffs, and produce accurate, competitive proposals.

 

  • Solutions Selling: Present good/better/best options (HVAC, water heating & purification, IAQ, controls, financing, rental) that address comfort, reliability, energy use, and total cost of ownership.

 

  • Deal Management: Own the sales cycle (needs analysis → proposal → negotiation → close), maintain CRM hygiene, forecast accurately, and hit monthly/quarterly targets.

 

  • Account Management: Grow share of wallet with existing customers, coordinate PM agreements, and ensure clean hand-offs to install/service with thorough documentation.

 

  • Partner Coordination: Work with vendors/manufacturers on product selection, lead times, rebates, and training; leverage utility incentives and tax benefits where applicable.

 

  • Job Readiness: Pre-install meetings with ops, confirm access, permits, crane/rigging needs, safety requirements, and customer expectations.

 

  • Customer Experience: Set timelines, communicate proactively, resolve concerns, and ensure satisfaction post-install; collect testimonials and referrals.

 

  • Market Intelligence: Track competitor activity, pricing trends, code updates, and rebate programs; provide feedback to leadership.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Sales Experience: Proven experience in sales, particularly in the HVAC industry, is highly valued. 
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of HVAC system components, energy efficiency, and system design is essential.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience and build rapport with clients is critical.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving client challenges with creative and effective HVAC solutions
  • Tools: MS Office, basic familiarity with Service Titan or similar CRM is a plus.
