About the Department

Come help the City of Issaquah plan and implement events celebrating America’s 250th birthday!  The City of Issaquah is seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as the Executive Director of the 4th of July Commission. This unpaid leadership role is ideal for someone with a passion for our community and experience organizing programs and activities. Issaquah Mayor Mary Lou Pauly, earlier this year, appointed a 4th of July Commission charged with developing and providing policy guidance for the City’s celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Executive Director will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the City’s 250th-anniversary activities.   These activities will include several small events during 2026 and a parade and celebration on July 4, 2026.  We are looking for an enthusiastic leader with strong skills in public speaking, fundraising, and event management, as well as a collaborative spirit and the ability to inspire volunteers. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on Issaquah by bringing our community together in celebration.

The position is anticipated to work 10-20 hours per week and will end on December 31, 2026.  This position reports to the City Administrator.

This position is open until filled, with a first review date of September 22nd.
