Description:
The Director of Corporate Partnerships is a member of the Institutional Partnerships team, working closely with the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships, the Institutional Partnerships team and other members of the Development staff to engage the private sector in funding CAFB’s mission-critical work through philanthropic grants, cause marketing promotions, employee engagement campaigns, and other strategic initiatives. The Director will lead, steward, and expand a portfolio of corporate partners with the goal of raising $2M annually. This position will manage corporate partners across the sector, with a primary focus on companies capable of contributing mid to-high five and six-figure gifts. The Director will also actively seek to identify new funding opportunities and build new and expanded partnerships for CAFB. They will lead the full revenue generation lifecycle from prospect research and initial outreach, to developing concepts and proposals, writing and submitting grant applications and sponsorship requests, and managing partnerships through reporting and renewals. The Director will serve as a thought partner and collaborator to the Senior Director, working together to implement a strategy that will significantly grow private sector support for the food bank over the next five years. The Director will be expected to represent CAFB at corporate and civic events that align with the organization’s mission and objectives, and to skillfully network in order to cultivate new relationships and opportunities for support. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the management of the Institutional Partnerships Coordinator.
Essential Functions: New Business Development (50%)
• Oversee prospect research to develop and deepen the pipeline of prospective private sector partners across the region, with a focus on tapping into companies with a presence in Northern Virginia
• Identify and pursue new corporate funding opportunities aligned with CAFB’s strategic priorities
• Lead outreach efforts to engage new corporate prospects through cold outreach, networking, and industry research
• Oversee and advance the corporate volunteer program, ensuring it delivers meaningful experiences that deepen engagement and foster stronger, long-term partnerships with CAFB
• Develop customized pitches and partnership proposals tailored to prospective corporate donors and create corporate marketing materials to support cold outreach and prospecting efforts
• Lead preparation and support for the CEO and other senior executives in high-level corporate outreach and solicitation efforts, including conducting research, developing strategy and outreach materials, organizing meetings, preparing comprehensive briefing documents, and ensuring leaders are positioned for successful asks and relationship-building
• Identify opportunities to network and showcase CAFB as the backbone of the region’s hunger relief infrastructure; participate (or facilitate the participation of colleagues) in meetings and external events that highlight CAFB’s innovative approaches and impact in the community.
Account Management (30%)
• Cultivate and manage a portfolio of existing partnerships contributing five[1]figure gifts with the potential to increase, providing top-quality stewardship and meaningful engagement • Manage and coordinate the work of colleagues across CAFB to support solicitation goals, and ensure partnership deliverables and reporting milestones are met (including programmatic commitments, communications support, and employee engagement opportunities) • Identify and create new opportunities for increased engagement and financial support from existing partners • Partner with the Manager of Institutional Partnerships to steward and grow relationships with corporations who support the food bank through Feeding America
Corporate Vertical Strategy & Management (15%)
• Partner and serve as strategic partner to the Senior Director to shape and implement engagement plans for CAFB’s corporate vertical, including developing a compelling value proposition, partnership structures, and strategies that both deepen relationships with existing partners and inspire prospective partners, with the goal of substantially growing private sector revenue over the next five years
• Set annual portfolio revenue goals in line with the larger organizational strategy and budget; accurately project, track, and communicate progress against revenue goals
• Oversee revenue generated from corporate volunteer groups, with a focus on refining the program with an eye towards maximizing growth opportunities and revenue
• Develop and implement a strategy to maintain and increase workplace giving and matching gift revenue
• Work to ensure timely and correct donation input into database, processing and prompt acknowledgement of funding received
• Track leads and pipeline progress in Salesforce
Team Leadership & Development (5%)
• Manage and provide day-to-day supervision of the Institutional Partnerships Coordinator, ensuring effective support for corporate partnership activities, volunteer program and team priorities
• Stay up to date on corporate giving news throughout the DMV and trends in corporate social responsibility, cause marketing and employee engagement (workplace giving, matching gifts, and volunteering)
• Support the team by effectively managing your workload (planning/prioritizing activities, developing the structures/tools to achieve team goals, etc.)
• Model the behavior you wish to see in others; energize the people around you, foster engagement, and create a trusting atmosphere
• Provide occasional support for other institutional partnership stewardship activities (e.g., drafting donor reports, proposals, or related materials) during peak periods or as organizational needs arise
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years of relevant business development, fundraising, or marketing experience; past experience managing and growing non-profit/corporate partnerships required
- Expertise in at least two of the following areas: corporate social responsibility (CSR), philanthropic grants, cause marketing promotions, sponsorship, employee engagement (giving campaigns, matching gifts, volunteering, etc.)
- Experience and proficiency utilizing Salesforce (or similar) donor database/CRM
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- This position requires a person skilled in leading private sector fundraising for a large regional social service organization and negotiating complex relationships both internally and externally

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- This role is based in a warehouse setting with some exposure to outdoor elements during the workday.
- Frequent interaction with moving forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Regular exposure to cooler and freezer temperatures

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary for this position is $112,000 to $125,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable.
Schedule:
- Position is currently hybrid with expectation of 3 days in the DC office, but there may be times when events require up to 4-5 days a week in the office
- Travel to CAFB’s facility in Northern Virginia may be required up to several times a month to engage companies in the region
- Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5:00pm; occasional nights/weekends to support donor events as required by the duties and responsibilities of the position
