Job Summary
The Building Plan Manager coordinates with internal Boxabl Engineers and 3rd party Professional Engineers & Architects to obtain building plan approval across each state and jurisdiction Boxabl plans to do business in. They oversee design refinement, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage design updates through effective communication and utilization of engineering software. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and collaboration across departments to drive successful product development.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of professional engineers & architects to expand the product design approval of Boxabl building modules in various jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with internal & external engineers and design professionals, as well as state representative & local plan reviewers to deliver both generic & customer specific plans for building department plan approval.
- Utilize AutoCAD/Revit/SolidWorks CAD software to effectively communicate designs through 3D models, 2D drawings, assembly prints, and Bills of Materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external design teams to develop building plans that align with Boxabl designs and manufacturing principles, as well as verify code compliance in various jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with sourcing/purchasing to verify suppliers' adherence to design specifications and adjust designs for improved manufacturability.
- Generate detailed drawings and possess a deep understanding of Bills of Materials to maintain consistent quality standards in product manufacturing.
- Work in tandem with the manufacturing team to streamline manufacturability and develop engineering assembly instructions translatable into work instructions.
- Evaluate design solutions against industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Document the design process and deliver progress reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
- 3+ years’ experience designing/coordinating building plans to achieve plan approval in multiple jurisdictions.
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit/SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Architecture.
- Project development and leadership skills are essential.
- Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems.
- Professional work experience developing and obtaining residential plan approvals.

- Work is performed in an open office environment that allows for collaboration inside and outside of your department.

- You may be stationary at a laptop or desktop computer for most of your day creating and compiling, preparing, and analyzing data that may include extensive reading and/or research.
- May have to express or exchange ideas verbally to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other employees accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is usually moderate to high.
- Work may require some weekend and evening work. No travel is expected. No remote work available currently.
