Job Summary:
The Office of Admission at Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) seeks an Assistant Director of Transfer Admission who will lead efforts to recruit and enroll transfer students from across the country, with a particular focus on building and sustaining relationships with community colleges and CBO partners.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, management, and organizational skills and will bring creativity and strategy to developing transfer pathways and partnerships. This individual will be responsible for cultivating strong collaborations with two-year colleges, advisors, and partner organizations, as well as for providing a supportive and streamlined admissions experience for transfer applicants.
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits, based on campus in Delaware, OH. Evening and weekend work will be required, as will travel to partner campuses and organizations approximately 3–5 weeks per year. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Access and Strategic Recruitment.

You have directly related successful professional experience in higher education. You are passionate about expanding educational opportunities for transfer students and building strong partnerships with community colleges, community-based organizations (CBOs), and other access-focused partners.
You thrive on developing pipelines that help students smoothly transition from two-year to four-year institutions, and you value the important role that transfer students play in shaping a campus community. You are skilled at relationship-building, enjoy traveling to connect with partner institutions, and are confident presenting to diverse audiences of all sizes—both in person and virtually.
You are a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who can balance multiple projects with ease. You have experience mentoring or managing student workers or ambassadors, and you excel at customer service, problem-solving, and guiding students through the often-complex transfer admissions process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
To thrive in this role, the Assistant Director of Transfer Admission will:
- Build and strengthen transfer pipelines by developing and maintaining strong relationships with community colleges, advisors, and CBO partners.
- Serve as the primary liaison between OWU and partner institutions, facilitating transfer agreements, dual-admission programs, and articulation pathways.
- Recruit and counsel prospective transfer students and their families throughout the admissions process, providing clear guidance on credit transfer, scholarships, and student support.
- Represent OWU at community colleges, transfer fairs, and community-based organization events nationwide.
- Educate partners and students about the unique benefits of transferring to OWU, including academic opportunities, financial aid, and student support services.
- Collaborate with campus colleagues (academic advising, registrar, financial aid, student success) to ensure a seamless enrollment experience for transfer students.
- Support the visit experience by helping coordinate tailored transfer events and managing a team of student ambassadors.
- Review and evaluate transfer applications and scholarship programs in a timely and thorough manner.
Factors Contributing to Success:
- Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 3-5 years of admission or related experience. A Master’s Degree is strongly preferred.
- Due to the travel requirement, a valid driver’s license is required.
- Technical proficiencies in Google products, video conferencing software and higher education CRM’s (preferably Slate) are highly desired.
