We believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

Our ultimate goal is to make cities for people, not cars, and we need your help to achieve this mission!

About the role

The UK Legal Counsel will play a key role in supporting Bolt’s operations in one of its most complex and highly regulated markets.

This role involves providing strategic legal advice to business and other stakeholders, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks while supporting the company's ambitious growth plans in the UK. You will focus on managing various legal matters (commercial, employment, corporate, regulatory), maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring effective risk management strategies are in place.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

 • Provide legal advice on UK-specific transportation, regulatory, commercial, corporate, and employment matters, ensuring full compliance with local laws.
 • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier and partnership contracts, and Terms & Conditions.
 • Advise internal stakeholders across functions (product, finance, marketing, etc.) to align legal advice with commercial objectives and mitigate risk.
 • Work closely with Tax, Regulatory, Privacy, and other teams to deliver integrated legal and compliance solutions.
 • Support UK corporate governance, manage external counsel, and oversee legal matters for UK subsidiaries and market projects.
 • Stay ahead of UK legislative changes and industry trends to proactively identify risks and guide business responses.

About you:

 • You are a UK-qualified lawyer with between 4 to 8 years post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably at a law firm or an international company.
 • You have strong expertise in UK commercial, corporate, regulatory law ideally within the transportation, technology, or ride-hailing sectors. Knowledge of employment law is a strong plus.
 • You have excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a focus on practical and commercially sound solutions.
 • You have solid business acumen and the ability to balance commercial priorities with legal risks effectively.
 • You have a proven track record of working autonomously on complex legal matters while managing multiple stakeholders.
 • You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse teams.

Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don’t tick every box, please consider applying!

Why you’ll love it here:

 • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
 • Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
 • Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
 • Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
