Job Description:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Credit Manager to join our Residential Lending team and help assess and manage credit risk across our bridging, refurbishment and buy-to-let loan products.

What's in it for you?

You’ll play a key role in shaping lending decisions, working closely with brokers, surveyors, solicitors, and internal teams to ensure loans are structured responsibly and aligned with our risk appetite.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in property-backed lending who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be given autonomy, exposure to cross-functional projects, and the chance to contribute to strategic initiatives across our Real Estate division.

The team

You’ll be joining a team of five Credit Managers within our Residential Lending function. It’s a collaborative, high-performing group that works closely with Sales, Portfolio, and other Real Estate teams to ensure seamless credit risk management.

What you'll be doing

Assess & Decide:

  • Conduct detailed credit risk assessments for bridging, refurbishment and BTL loans.
  • Analyse financials, valuations, and borrower profiles to evaluate loan viability.
  • Approve or decline applications in line with our credit policies and market conditions.

Collaborate & Communicate:

  • Liaise with brokers, surveyors, and solicitors to gather documentation and resolve queries.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third-party stakeholders to support smooth loan execution.

Monitor & Improve:

  • Support the Portfolio team with credit-related queries throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Monitor loan performance and recommend actions to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure compliance with lending regulations and internal policies.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in underwriting secured property-backed lending.
  • Strong understanding of the UK residential property market and lending risks.
  • Experience working with brokers, surveyors, and solicitors.
  • Ability to assess complex valuations and make sound lending decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan management systems.
  • Experience with bridging, refurbishment or buy-to-let loans.
  • Experience holding a lending mandate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
