As an intern, you’ll work alongside our experienced practitioners and with our clients and communities. This hands-on experience will equip you with practical skills, build your network, and provide opportunities that set you up for success.
Your Opportunity
You will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain electrical power and lighting systems or products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit design, calculations, and field work. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken electrical engineering design type courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of existing industrial projects throughout the country.
Your Key Responsibilities
Your responsibility is to work as part of our project team, with your voice added to that of the team, under the guidance and mentorship of your more senior peers. Responsibilities will be diverse and may range from the preparation of design drawings, studies, research, presentation materials, models, and technical drawings.
As the successful candidate your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Conducting basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, published standards, codes & regulations, and other similar materials.
- Preparing of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings; specifically in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Participating in electrical design including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and other low-voltage building systems (telecommunication, security access control, CCTV, etc).
- Performing field work such as reviewing existing site conditions as directed by senior engineers/designers and preparing associated field review reports.
- Assisting with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
- Undertaking other tasks assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Familiarity with drafting/design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD would be an asset.
- Basic understanding of lighting calculation software (AGI 32, AutoLUX, Dialux, etc) would be an asset.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Technical proficiency, good understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and process improvement skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented team player and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and eager to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineering staff.
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in the electrical engineering co-op or equivalent post-secondary program with availability for a 8-month internship.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - $22.74-31.21 /hr
