The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

 

Position and Responsibilities

 

As part of the site operational group, shaft operations you will be responsible for:

 

  • Operating, inspecting and maintaining the main cage and skip conveyance
  • Preparing equipment and materials to be moved to/from the underground using slings and rigging
  • Operating equipment such as JCB loader and skid steer loader
  • Working with a diverse workforce (Cameco employees, contractors and trades personnel)
  • Fulfil all duties as detailed in the mines regulations Mine Shaft 1 operator training requirements

 

Education and Qualifications

 

 Requirements of the position:

  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Five years of applicable underground mining experience
  • Must successfully pass the crane and rigging course
  • Rotating day/night shift schedule
  • Able to work at heights using fall arrest
  • Willing to work in confined spaces
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Assets:

  • Previous shaft experience

 

Conditions of Employment:

 

  • Pre-employment substance test
  • Criminal record background check
