Senior IAM Engineer, Temporary opportunity until end June 2027. Based in Sydney CBD with flexible + hybrid working options available
The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is looking for a Senior IAM Engineer to join our growing team!

- Salary range, grade 9/10: $129,464 - $142,665+ super, commensurate with experience.
- Excellent leave entitlements: 20 days annual leave, up to additional 24 days flexible leave.
- Hybrid and flexible working options available, which would include two days in our office based in Sydney CBD

This role is pivotal to help mitigate security risks across DCS and its Agencies, whilst contributing to strengthening the security posture within the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design, implementation, and optimization of IAM solutions including identity lifecycle management, access certifications, and privileged access controls.
- Acting as a technical escalation point for complex identity-related issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve systemic challenges.
- Driving IAM maturity initiatives and mentoring junior engineers to build team capability.
- Managing and enhancing authentication and authorization platforms, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and role-based access controls.
- Ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements through continuous process improvement and automation.
- Supporting application onboarding and integration with IAM platforms.
About you:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in IAM engineering, with deep knowledge of identity lifecycle, access provisioning, and authentication technologies.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and other identity protocols.
- Experience with IAM platforms such as SailPoint, Okta, ForgeRock, or similar.
- A collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and lead others.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
