Inventory Control Specialist II

Vector Biolabs, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis Life Sciences, located in Malvern, PA specializes in custom production of AAV and adenoviral vectors for gene delivery. The Inventory Control Specialist II will work in a fast-growing and rewarding organization where employees are driven by their passion to learn and make a difference in the world. 

This individual will work across different functions, providing support to the Facilities, Supply Chain, and Lab Operations teams based on the needs of the organization each day. This role will also have the opportunity to train in specific Lab Operations functions and support product manufacturing.

Job Duties and Tasks:

Facilities:

  • Coordinate and execute support activities for laboratory and business operations such as communication tools, 5S activities, KANBAN, and inventory and waste control. 
  • Manage and schedule performance maintenance on instruments and equipment, eye wash and shower stations, calibration of pipettes, and coordinate HVAC maintenance.
  • Notify management of facility related problems and equipment deficiencies; support corrective action activities.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE and safety equipment is maintained. 

Supply Chain:

  • Package and ship processed orders; create shipping labels and ensure all other documentation required for shipping is properly included with the shipment.
  • Track outbound shipping schedule. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of product packaging guidelines to ensure materials are packaged according to their shipping temperature needs, depending on their shipping destination and estimated transit time.
  • Organize & maintain inventory including lab supplies, chemicals, lab support supplies
  • Maintain accurate inventory cycle count records and ensure catalog item KANBAN
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the company’s products and related storage and handling requirements in order to handle sensitive materials appropriately.

Lab Operations:

  • Provide support in the monitoring and restocking of lab supplies, chemicals, and glassware.
  • Responsible for labware and glassware cleaning as needed with team support. 
  • Maintenance/cleaning of lab areas, including Controlled Environment Rooms.
  • Prep work in the lab including making media, gels, labeling tubes, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or Bachelors Degree is Life Sciences is preferred
  • Two (2) years Life Science industry experience in Operations preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High level of organization, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • General computer skills including knowledge of all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work productively and independently, and respond to tasks and requests (internal and external) in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Laboratory and chemical-handling skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GMP or GLP preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day.
  • Fine hand motor control required for materials handling and instrument use.
  • Regular use of computers and typing required.
  • Gloves, lab coat, and safety glasses must be worn.
  • This is a 100% on-site support role primarily in warehouse and lab environments where there are chemicals, biologicals, and compressed gases, with some office work. 

Compensation: Hourly pay plus annual performance bonus. Hourly Pay Range: $22.50-$25.00
