Essential Functions

  • Perform a wide range of administrative and clinical tasks, including obtaining and documenting patient medical histories, answering and directing phone calls, and ensuring completion of all necessary forms.
  • Communicate fluently in Spanish with patients and their families to accurately obtain and document medical histories and other vital information.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by conducting preliminary physical assessments, taking vital signs, and summarizing patient history for providers.
  • Set up and maintain clean, organized treatment rooms for clinical examinations.
  • Communicate physician instructions to patients and answer basic questions regarding treatment and care. Fluency in Spanish is required to effectively relay information to our Spanish-speaking patients.
  • Provide compassionate support and assistance to patients and their families throughout their visit.
  • Ensure strict compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Assist providers, clinical staff, and other team members as needed.
  • Be comfortable performing medical reception duties as needed, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling billing inquiries.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support overall clinic operations.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Solid understanding of medical procedures, administrative workflows, and organizational policies.
  • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and families.
  • Proficient in a variety of administrative tasks, including scheduling, documentation, and records management.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and demonstrate leadership when needed.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to express ideas effectively.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of prior experience in a medical setting is preferred.
  • Language: Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
