Career Opportunities: Senior Secondary Systems Engineer (10483)
About the role
As a senior member of our Secondary Systems team, the Senior Secondary Systems Engineer is responsible for managing the effectiveness of the protection and control and SCADA systems for the distribution and transmission networks to deliver TasNetworks’ network security, system reliability and safety commitments.
Responsibilities also include -
- Develop long-term strategies and plans
- Undertake design reviews and specifications, and general engineering reviews
- Manage and contribute to the development and implementation of asset management plans, technical standards, and guidelines for the accurate design, construction and management of the secondary systems assets
- Manage and contribute to QA of projects
- Manage and contribute to cyber security improvement plans in substations
- Provide the wider business, stakeholders and customers with technical advice
- Coach, mentor and support graduate and junior engineers contributing to team capability and professional development
- Deliver options analyses, technical scopes and specifications, business cases, and other documents to define, develop and deliver the capital and operational programs
About you
You are a senior level electrical engineer with extensive experience and working knowledge of protection and control and SCADA as well as project experience with design, quality assurance, testing and project commissioning. You will bring strong track record of providing technical leadership, managing engineering risks and delivering quality and timely outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player, with -
- The ability to be registered on the National Engineering Register (NER) as a professional Engineer
- Strong knowledge of power system engineering, high voltage plant and equipment and contemporary electricity network maintenance practices, and other relevant Policies, Acts, Rules and Standards
- Advanced proficiency in protection and control and/or SCADA and automation assets in transmission and distribution networks, including network performance
The ability to participate in regular intrastate travel is essential.
